anyone do stitch fix (esp if you're petite)?

Is this worth it or a waste? I'm not much for shopping (I use the nordstrom shopper periodically to help) but would love some 'surprise' pieces every so often...but fear the fit would be bad b/c I'm really short (5') and also not very daring so I might end up w/ things I wouldn't wear and sending them back
Thoughts?

Re: anyone do stitch fix (esp if you're petite)?

  • I've just started. Had two shipments already. I loved everything in it but it was all too small. I'm 5'2" but a size 14. Everything was too snug. Changed my sizing to the largest possible and the next shipment was much more successful. I kept a black wrap dress and a sweater. I wanted to keep a shoulder bag but couldn't justify spending the money. One top was too similar to one I already have. The only dud piece was an asymmetrical zip up sweater that didn't drape right on me.

I like it so far! Try it out. Worst that will happen is you lose $20 on a crappy shipment.

  • @PrivacyWanted, I think they say the average price of each item is about $65.
  • I've gotten two boxes so far.  They're pretty good about staying in/close to your price range for various types of pieces (jewelry, outer layers, tops, bottoms).  I think I've done ok so far with fit, except for a blazer that had arms meant for super skinny folks (which I am no).  The first fix was so-so style wise - I gave detailed comments in response and got pieces that were a little more "on" the second time through.  You tell them whether you want to be daring or not on the questionnaire.  Just be complete in your responses, and give as much detail as you can to work from.  You can point them to a Pinterest board of your style-likes.  That might help push them in the right direction.

  • From their website, they are booked until April.  Which is a shame, as I was very tempted after reading this thread.  May have to revisit soon as I'm not willing to sign up for something that won't come for 3 months--I'll totally forget and will be out of town or something so will have to buy everything in the box.

  • Budget has been good so far. They stuck to my price ranges and I said I wanted casual work clothes so that's what I'm getting. I think the wrap dress was the highest priced item I've received so far and it was about $100. Sweater was $65. Bag that I wanted but couldn't justify spending money on was $45.

  • Thanks, ladies!  @PrivacyWanted, I just signed up!  There are two dates available in February now that weren't yesterday, so THANK YOU for that heads up.  We'll see what comes.

  • I just signed up, too!  I am so excited.  I scheduled my fix as an early birthday present for myself.  Updating my wardrobe is one of my goals for 2014, but I hate to shop, so I hope this works out!

  • I've tried it twice and wasn't too thrilled with it, to be honest. Then again, I am someone who loves to shop and usually doesn't have problems finding things that fit. I thought some of the pricing was a little off...they sell their own brand, which I didn't find to be super high quality, but pricing was still higher (like $60-$70 for a cheap polyester blouse). It doesn't hurt to try it once, though! I ended up keeping one thing out of my first box. I wouldn't have done it again, but I had a referral credit so I gave it another shot.
