Jeez - smile would ya kid(s)?!

My girls were born 1 mo early and are now 6 wks....when are they going to smile (not gas/sleep but real)? I feel like a knucklehead but I've been doing all sorts of things trying to get grins out of these girls...including singing sir mix a lot...ref friends episode ;) when did your twins first smile?

Your kids are only 2w adjusted, way too early to do much of anything besides eat, poop, and sleep. Just remember there is a huge range of "normal" with milestones anyways and you need to adjust expectations backwards by a month.

ETA if I remember right my youngest twin started smiling at 8w adjusted and the oldest shortly after.

  • It's only been very recently -- so about 12 weeks or 4 weeks adjusted. So quite a few weeks from where you are now. :)

  • We had what I think was a real smile around 5 weeks (born at 39w) - definitely by 7 weeks we had lots of smiles.
