Ladies with babies with reflux come on in

Ok so little one seems to be spitting up alot during feedings, and when he burps it sounds painful he grugles and then cries. I know you all can not tell me if he has reflux, I just need to know if those symptoms sound familiar. He spit/threw up all 2 ounces I fed him an hour ago. If I lay him flat he screams he is peacefully sleeping on an incline on my legs.

Re: Ladies with babies with reflux come on in

  • That is exactly what my little one was doing. The spitting up is what made the dr. determine reflux and put her on meds. She now rarely spits up and is comfortable laying flat about 10-15 minutes after eating.

  • The doctor put LO on meds also but after feeding I sit him up for about 5-10 minutes before burping him and then again for 10-15 minutes before laying him flat. It's seemed to help with him spitting up. Just something you could try.
  • I'm taking our LO in this week for reflux.  We don't have the spitting up issue really.  He spits up but not a lot.  I would say we only have 1 projectile spit up once a week.  The reason I wonder if he has reflux is because he arches his back a lot, tons of spit bubbles with occasional bad breath, and there are times where he just starts crying and whining while he is sleeping.  LO gets really upset when he burps, gags and all sorts of things.  Not sure if this helps but this is what we are experiencing.
  • We're taking LO to 2 wk appt tomorrow and I am asking about reflux. He has started spitting up a TON in addition to being congested and slightly wheezing at times. Sometimes his spit up is quite forceful - not sure if I'd use the word projectile but it's not the dribble-out-the-mouth spit up he began with.
  • Both my older twins had reflux and were on Zantac. Most babies have some form of reflux, units just that their esophagus is under developed which is totally normal. Our pedi told us that most dr. Won't do much unless the baby isn't gaining. You would be amazed that the babies can gain weight even if they are projectile spitting up. Zantac doesn't help with the spitting up, it helps with the acid in their tummy making it a little less painful. Good luck.

Mine was diagnosed yesterday and the doctor have him meds. He spit up a lot, had a lot of hiccups, would cry for long periods of time, wouldn't sleep more than an hour straight and he was hungry all the time! At first I thought it was the 6 weeks growth spurt but after 2 weeks I took him to the doc. I still can believe my baby was in pain and I didn't give him the attention he needed so he was suffering... If u think he has something I would tell you to go and ask the doc about it
He also has bad breath ( he was EBF) and we could see that he would cry more after he ate.
  • I have the same problem. He won't sleep flat on his back because he starts to gag and then cough. He has bad gas problems he will scrunch his legs and face up and cry in pain. The only thing that helps is to hold him vertically against my chest nice and tight, push his legs up to his belly and walk around. For 3 days straight I could only hold him vertically. Of course it happend over the weekend. I called the on call doc and she said to give him a 1/2 tsp of Chamomile tea to calm him. I was told to call his doc on Monday. However he is growing and gaining weight fine so I get the vibe they will just ask me to watch him I feel terrible when he is in pain.
Interested to see if other people have a similar problem

FYI: he is 6 weeks today and Ebf.
  • This is helpful. Question: how are you doing the night feedings? For us, half hour waking/eating and then half hour sitting up? Tough!!!!
  • thanks lladies some of you describe excatly what I'm going through I will be making an appointment for tuesday.
