spilling the beans - when & how?

Hi ladies! I hope everyone is feeling well! I have 2 questions: How long is everyone waiting to tell the world (i.e. Facebook) and anyone have creative announcement ideas?

I think I'm waiting until the 2nd trimester. I had an mc in September, and although our u/s on Friday showed a very strong heartbeat and no signs of worry, I'm still a little apprehensive.

We are waiting to tell our families until 12-14 weeks depending on what my SCH looks like then and then the rest of the world after the bleeding is resolved. No creative announcement just DD in a Big Sister shirt.

I plan on something along the lines of "Dear Facebook, I'm pregnant. Have a fantastic day" and then seeing what happens. Waiting until somewhere between end of Jan. and Valentine's Day. (12-15 wks)

I will tell Facebook after 20 week scan. Rest of my family/friends maybe after NT scan.

We already told our parents. My work already knows because my Commander got an email updating him of my non-deployable status. (That and we pick up a new cycle of privates on the 29th, and I felt it would be wrong of me to wait until the cycle had just picked up, then drop the bomb that I wouldn't be a Drill Sergeant for much longer). Facebook will find out in the second trimester, probably with u/s pic or just a general announcement. Neither FI or I are particularly creative in that respect. lol

I will announce on fb on valentines day...dh and i went to paris a couple weeks ago and we took a pic on the lock bridge of a lock that says "baby h. Coming 8/2014" so well say we forgot to upload a pic from our trip and thatll be it.

I'm planning on mailing an announcement to close friends and family members. Then wait a few days and post digital copy of the announcement to FB. For exact timing I'm going to see how my first few appointments go.

Family and coworkers already know. It was a bit unavoidable at work. I wished to wait until at least 12 weeks. That didn't work out. After that 12 wk appt we'll just tell people as we see them. There probably won't be a formal FB announcement.

Our immediate family and closest friends already know. We have our second ultrasound a week from tomorrow, if everything still looks good then we will announce on Facebook. Our announcement is a pic of us sitting on the couch - me eating ice cream and pickles, him reading a What to Expect when your wife is expanding book and the dog between us with a sign that says Baby E Guard Dog - Duty Starts August 2014

We haven't told anyone except our best friends. But when I do announce on fb I found a fun idea on pinterest of a boy and girl holding up signs saying girl-1/boy-1 and a third sign saying tie breaker coming August 2013.

I bought a t shirt for my husband that says Capt. Daddy. He's a captain in the marine corps so our announcement will say something like "Capt. _____ is getting promoted to Capt. Daddy August 2014" with a picture of us. Will announce at around 15 weeks.

We've told our families and a few close friends. I think we'll make the fb announcement next week when I'll be 12 weeks. Our DS likes "Blue's Clues" and was Blue for Halloween. We are going to take pictures of him with "clues" and post them on fb. We might take the pictures today if DS will cooperate.

We've told a few close friends, but waiting until my scan at my first apt in another week. I won't tell work for as long as possible, 20+ weeks. I don't have a Facebook, but dh does. He's low key so I bet he will just announce the birth there, but we will obviously fill in friends as we see them after first ultrasound or when I start to show.

Our families and a few close friends know and was waiting for my ultrasound to get a picture to announce around 12 weeks on FB. I gotta find some ideas though, I was thinking of putting together our baby pictures w the ultrasound pic in the middle

Besides my husband and kids, only my boss and 4 best friends know. We will do a family announcement when we will have the results of our MaterniT21 scan back so maybe 2 weeks or so. We will do a FB pregnancy/gender announcement on Valentine's Day.

Our parents and siblings know. My grandmother also knows, but she's the only other person on my side of the family, I couldn't keep it from just her. We're waiting until after our first trimester screening to tell others. We'll go to visit H's grandparents to tell them in person, then call his aunts, uncles and cousins and tell them over the phone.

We're telling H's closest friend next weekend, before our screening, but we don't see him often and H wants to tell him in person. The rest of our friends, I haven't decided.

I think I am telling my boss this week. We have a program coming to my school and it's voluntary, but time consuming. I don't want to say no without giving a reason to my boss. I may just say no and tell her after the scan. Coworkers are onto me. One coworker commented on Friday as I was leaving work that I had very dark eyes and I looked pregnant. I told her I was tired and walked away.

I was planning to make a Facebook announcement, but I don't think I am. Anyone close, I will personally tell and the rest of my Facebook friends I don't feel are close enough to need to know.

We told parents and siblings right after the first BFP. I also told my boss. I'll tell the HR person if our u/s goes well this Wednesday (@10 weeks). I'm a supervisor, and will probably tell my staff at about 13 weeks (my longest pregnancy was 12 weeks, so 13 is my lucky number). Facebook will wait awhile. We announced early on the first pregnancy, and had great support and love after the m/c, but people said such nice things, and I cried every time.

May I interrupt with a mini-vent? All this "coworkers guessing" reminds me of a couple months ago when a coworker who I am NOT close with, asked me if I was pregnant. She said I was "glowing." I assured her I was not, but I'd actually had a cold (fatigue, rosy cheeks, I guess). She insisted. I denied. What I really wanted to say was "I have 3 tests at home that say I'm not, and even if I were, you would not be anywhere near the top of the list for me to tell."

But telling for-real is super fun

We are simple folk, but I like the idea of using mine and hubs' baby pics!

Anytime we walk into a room, my 7 year old makes sure she tells everyone. No "hi" or "hello" just "did you know my mommy has a baby in her tummy?" We had a family bday party today and a lot of the reactions were "what did you say?" Or a look at me "omg really?"

It took the pressure off that's for sure

Our families already know, but I will put something on Facebook after our NT scan on the 30th. Probably something uncreative like a picture of DS in his big brother shirt holding a sign that says #2 coming August 2014.

We will tell our families once I get through the first tri and friends shortly after. I am dreading telling work so I will probably wait as long as I can. I'm not big into facebook announcements so people who don't already know will find out when we post pictures from the hospital.
