Dinner fail

Today I tried out a new pot roast slow cooker recipe I saw on here a while back. DS1 helped me wash the potatoes, put in the carrots, and sprinkle the spices. It's made the house smell heavenly for the last few hours an DS was excited to eat a meal he helped make.

I went to take the roast out of the crock pot to slice it and the plastic absorbent pad they put in meat packages from the grocery store came out too. We're waiting for the pizza delivery man now.

Please make me feel better and share some of your dinner fails.

Re: Dinner fail

  • I put in all the ingredients in the crockpot and turned it on so dinner would be done when we got back. Too bad I forgot to plug it in.
I have done this as well.

  • Especially after having a baby, I always forget I have something on the stovetop and burn one side really bad. Almost.every.time. I tell DH he better get used to it cuz my brain just doesn't work anymore ;)

I had mine plugged in once, but forgot to turn it on.

  • I left the cardboard under the pizza once when I was cooking it. Surprisingly it didn't burn, but the pizza tasted like cardboard.

  • My first time I made stew in the crock pot, when it was done it smelt like dog food. The whole pot went in the garbage.

    This.
I keep burning everything. Luckily he grew up with his mom over cooking everything so he is kind of used to it.
  • I put steaks on the grill last night and when I went to check on then they were ON FIRE! I tried to save then but they were pretty charred. I wanted to cry because I was really trying to go all out on a nice steak dinner for DH. Not to mention they were beautiful $20 ribeyes. :((

  • I once tried to use up some alfalfa sprouts in the fridge by throwing them in the spaghetti sauce.  I thought they'd be like cooking onions and sorta melt away and you'd never even notice they were in there.  Nope.  One giant green hairball mess is what we ended up with.  DH still snarkily suggests we add alfalfa sprouts every time we make spaghetti.
  • I nearly ruined a pan today that i was heating coconut oil inbefore sauteing veggies. The smoke was awful. We had microwaved Indian food instead.

  • That's a bummer. Guess you should've checked that! I'm a really good cook so I can't think of a good story, but my husband can't even make popcorn without burning it. Not pleasant. I just don't let him hang out in the kitchen. ;)

  • The 1st dinner I cooked for my husband was a beef roast. I made it in the oven in one of those bags, but I didn't poke holes in it like the directions say..... It blew up! There was a huge mess in the oven. Thankfully it still tasted good but still gets brought up 10 years later.
