Baby acne locations

Where does your baby have acne? Mine started getting it in the last few days. I know it's normal, but I'm nervous because DH had shingles two weeks ago. I know it's probably just acne, but I still have the threat of chicken pox in the back of my mind since incubation period is 1-3 weeks.

The baby was four weeks old yesterday and he has it between his eyebrows, in his cheeks and chin, behind his ears and a little on his head. He doesn't seem to have spots anywhere else on his body, so that seems to point to acne versus chicken pox. Do any other babies have pimples/acne on their neck or head too? Hopefully I'm just overreacting after all he stress from the last few weeks.

ETA: I didn't see the other acne question a few down, although my question is a little different.

  • Our LO gets it only on her cheeks and neck, and a little around her ears. It was a little worrisome at first for me too, but Dr. Google and a trusted friend both assured me all is well.

DD's started on her cheeks, a little on her ear, eye lid, and a little on her chest and left shoulder :( mainly on her cheeks though. You aren't being paranoid...I was the same and called her ped to make sure everything was okay.
  • My lo has it mostly on his face. Some on his arms too
  • We had a similar situation; my mother-in-law came to visit when DS was 3w old and found out two days later that she had shingles. Of course at the same time LO started to develop acne. I was nervous, too, but so far it just looks like baby acne on the cheeks, nose, head, neck, and chest. My guy has terrible dry skin as well.

Hopefully yours will be fine too. The nurse warned me that acne would likely freak me out because of the threat of chicken pox and she was right, I guess. I just hope it avoids his belly and extremities so I don't need to freak out too much! I've been taking his temp and it's been find so far. He was fussy last night and of course I'm reading too much into it.

  • Our LO has it behind his ears and slightly on his neck. I was just noticing it today and thinking how it was annoying that it had spread to those spots too.
