puréed foods?

My son is 8 months. We started solids (purées) at 4 months but now he won't eat unless he can feed himself.. He does great eating real food as long as he can pick it up off his tray and eat it... If I try to spoon feed it's a fight!
Is this normal? Can I just start eliminating purées?

    Yes, very normal. If he's been on pureed food for 4 months, he is probably more than ready for finger foods. There are a lot of moms now that go straight to baby lead weaning, starting with spears of soft foods, rather than pureed food. Go with whatever feels comfortable for you and your baby.

    We did BLW with DD3, so she hasn't had any purees, unless you count applesauce. It's totally fine not to spoon feed.
