Work- what would you do?

I want to get some opinions on what I should do. Here is what happened. I'm 9 weeks pp and yesterday was my first day back at work, I work retail. Towards the end of the day I got a really bad headache and wasn't feeling great. When I got home I noticed I started bleeding again down south and I was feeling even worse. I even threw up a few times. This morning I feel a little better, still bleeding and feeling light headed and an upset stomach. I'm supposed to work all day today.
Thoughts? I really don't know if I should just push through or ask my manager if I could work a shorter shift. The only reason I'm torn is because I just came back from maternity leave. I also don't know if the way I'm feeling and bleeding is serious enough to bother doing anything about.

Re: Work- what would you do?

  • Is it possible that it could just be your first pp period? Even if you are breastfeeding you could be getting one already. If it doesn't feel like a period maybe talk to your ob.

  • I agree with PP.  Could it be your first pp period?

Also, nerves could be playing a small role in this, as well.  Most of us have a hard time adjusting to going back to work and leaving our LO's.  If you feel it is more than just a period, put a call in to your ob or family doctor.  I wouldn't ask for time off unless you are truly feeling too bad to work.

  • Like others have said it could be your period. It can be less than stellar after having the baby. I felt like crap during my first pp period. If you think something more serious then consult your doctor.

    I continued to work.

  • Thanks for the input. I did start feeling better, and the bleeding is now very little. It's only there when I go to the bathroom and wipe, so I don't know if its a period or just more pp bleeding because I was a lot more active than I have been.
  • I would not hesitate to ask for a shorter shift. This country sucks when it comes to taking care of pp women and understanding that we need extra considerations.
