Bath help?

I saw a thread but can't find it now...how do you all do baths? We have a summer infant bath seat but it keeps her at an incline and now she wants to sit and play with toys and bubbles. I thought a few of you said something about a squishy bath mat? What is that exactly? Just wondering what you do in this transition period to let them play but keep them safe in the tub. Thx ladies!

  • We use a laundry basket with anti slip things on the inside to keep him from slipping in it, and ones on the bottom to keep the basket from sliding in the tub. Works awesome and keep his toys close.

  • It may be odd....but we've moved to a laundry basket in the bathtub. It still keeps her contained so she isn't slipping around the tub but it allows her more room to play with toys.

  • @mariahrb we must have posted at the same time. I never considered the sticky things inside the basket but it makes sense

  • We have an inflatable tub, he's done fine in the regular one but the inflatable is smaller so we use much less water that way.

  • Straight in the tub,but I use more than 2 inches of water-- probably more like 5. He's a big boy though, very tall, and I like to get him submerged up to the top of his crack. Haha.  He LOVES baths, splashes and plays and laughs the whole time... seriously, the best smiles I get out of him are in the tub.  He doesn't lie down, he just sits up and I have a pitcher thingy to wash soap out of his hair and off his back.  The toilet is right next to the tub so I have it easy - I can sit on the seat and still reach him!

  • I just stick her in the bath too. She slides around a little, but nothing that's made her fall.

  • Thanks for the input ladies! Sounds like a good no slip bath mat might do. She loves her toys and to splash. I bought an inflatable tub but it was too slippery for her so maybe the mat will work.

You can buy a mat for your tub that makes it not slippery... They sell them at Walmart/target.

  • We use the Fisher price whale of a tub with the insert out. She sits great and could probably go in the tub but the whale uses less water. You could also try a towel in the tub. My bathtub is refinished so there are specific instructions on what you can and can't do.

  • I've started sitting Esther in the bath on a washcloth so she doesn't slip around.
