Mucous Plug (TMI) Question

Hey, lovely ladies!

So, I think I may have passed my mucous plug this morning. I'm a FTM so I have nothing to compare it to, though. Here's the deal: it wasn't pink or red or even tinged with blood. It was just thick, snotty mucous. Clearish white. I'm 37 weeks, so I've been vigilant in checking my discharge, and nothing has been mucousy at all until this morning. Could this still be a mucous plug? Does it HAVE to have blood in it? Sorry if this is TMI!!! Thanks ladies!!

I'm going to be a first time mother too and from what I've researched and been told, it definitely sounds like ur mucus plug. Go onto google images and type in mucus plug and see the variations on there

Most likely it is. You can still "grow" another one so dont be surprised if you loose it again or you don't o into labor soon. Being 37 is "full term" but as a FTM it's pretty early.

Yupp sounds like it definitely could have been your plug. During my first PG mine didnt have blood or anything in it either. Just a big chunk of snot looking stuff.

I lost mine at 37 weeks with my first, and had her a week later. Also I'm curious, I've seen many people on this board saying it can regenerate, but I've not been able to find any thing on the web to agree. Most says that losing your plug is a direct result of you beginning to dialate. It's not that I don't believe it is possible, I just, for whatever reason, haven't been able to find that info. My "Google-fu" has failed me.

I was 4cm dilated for a few weeks before losing my mucus plug a few days before having DS. So no, I wouldn't say it's a direct result of the start of dilation.

It definitely sounds like it to me. I don't know if there HAS to be blood and I don't remember if I saw any, but I did go into labor the next day. So good luck!

Sounds like it's your mucus plug. I started losing pieces of mine at 32 weeks. The last glob I lost had brown blood tinge in it but the first smaller pieces were clear. I'm obviously still pregnant and was informed it could regenerate. It doesn't really mean anything... just that you're progressing.

Sounds like your plug to me. I lost mine over the course of the day my water broke, and it never had any blood in it.

Sounds like it. It can regenerate. It doesn't mean your cervix is dilating all the time. I didn't lose mine until 8cm with DS.

Also, 37 weeks no longer considered to be full term. It's early term, but it's been updated that full term is 39-40 weeks.

I've lost small bits of my mucus plug a handful of times since about 14 weeks. I notice that is seems to happen every time I have sex without being lubricated enough. I am thinking it must regenerate because here I am at 27 weeks not in labor!

I haven't been able to find much other than forum posts that say the mucus plug regenerates, either, but I'm not too worried unless I start to lose big pieces.

I'm just curious about it not that I think I'll disprove anything. I also haven't found any info online besides forum posts to say it regenerates. I wonder if people think it's their plug but it's really just an increase in CM? Of course I'm not there to see, and I'm sure it can\does.. I'm just curious as to the circumstances around how it happens.
