Do you think they will tell us??

Hello! This is my first post on the bump! I'm 16 weeks preggo and I am having an ultrasound on christmas eve! My husband leaves on the 13th of january for for months ot go to basic training! They scheduled my ultrasound to find out the sex 6 days after he leaves. He said he wanted to try to ask the lady when we have it on Christmas eve to see if she will tell us the sex. I know I've heard plenty of people say they found out around 14 weeks so i'm sure they can tell if they take the time to look. My husband really wants to know before he leave. It's his first child and he so excited. What do you guys think?

    I've seen several women on here find out around 16 weeks, so if your tech gets a good shot I don't see why they wouldn't tell you or at least give you a good guess.

    I'm sure they will make an educated "guess", but as far as reliability of that information goes,  I wouldn't bet the farm on it quite that early. Sixteen weeks is probably far enough along to see the boy parts a little more clearly than the girls.

    Absolutely!  I found out with both of my babies at exactly 16 wks. and it was plain as day!  Good luck and congratulations!!!  What an exciting Christmas gift!

    Might not be quite as reliable as at your next u/s, but I bet they will be able to give you an idea, at least.  Just don't paint the room pink or blue yet!  :)  Congratulations to you and your Dh!

    At 15 weeks I had an U/S because of some bleeding.  The tech kept referring to it as a "she" and when I asked her about that she said she didn't want to tell me for sure because it was too early.  At 17 weeks I was told it was a girl.  Then the big ultrasound at 21 weeks they confirmed it was a girl.

    thank you everyone that answered!! I'm just soo excited its stupid! You gave me lots of hope though!! I'm going to keep my fingers crossed!!! AHH i just cant wait! As long as its healthy it's all I could ask for but.... if i got to choose I'd hope to have a little girl!!! I have a little boy!! Me in my DH just want a little princess sooooo bad!! THANKS again guys!!

    I think they can tell you what they think it is, but they can't say definately. I would hate to be told one thing and turn around and find out it was the other, I mean both are great, but I wouldnt go on a shopping spree just yet

    I would explain your situation and if they can tell then I am sure they will.  I just had my NT scan yesterday at 13 weeks and they told me there is a 70% chance that I am having a girl.

    We had our 1st us at 14 weeks and we were 90% sure it was a boy and at 16 weeks they confirmed it. The tech had to search for a while to get the right angle but when she did there was no doubt it is a boy!! Good luck at yours!
