3rd Trimester

Worst Baby Moon....EVER!

So my hubby and I decided to go to NYC for Christmas.  Well, somehow we thought that bringing his parents along would be a great idea.  WORST IDEA EVER!  I love my in-laws, at least I thought I did.....  We ended up sharing a room with them and holy freakin' cow, never doing that again!  It was a small room, so when his dad decided to drop a load, it stunk up the entire place!  We laughed and goofed about it, opened up the room door to air out, and somehow his dad managed to throw a fit.  He left the hotel, started walking to who knows where, and literally went missing for half an hour.  He didn't even take his phone with him, so we had no idea where he went.  When he came back, he said he was so embarrassed that he had to take a walk. Umm...hello, you don't just leave and tell no one where you're going!  Well, that was the first night.  The second night, we went to see Stomp.  Before the show, my hubby and I used the restroom because we hate getting up in the middle of performances.  Well, his mother thought "oh, i'll be okay...I'll just hold it".  Well in the middle of the show, she decides she needs to use the restroom and POW, she falls face first!  The show stops for a minute, everyone is asking if she's okay, and luckily she gets up.  Well, she doesn't return for the rest of the show and we're wondering what's going on.  Does she need an ambulance?  Is she badly hurt?  No, neither of these...she peed herself!!!  So needless, to say we had to cancel the rest of the nights plans to go back to the hotel so she could shower and change.  I swear, it was like traveling with a bunch of kids.  One throws a fit, and the other pees her pants!  At least now we know we're never traveling with them again.  My husband agrees, he was very disappointed with how they acted.  Oh and to top it all off...our hotel had a small electrical fire in their basement.  We had to stay out of our rooms from 4pm to almost 2am in the morning.  Lovely huh?

  • WTH were you thinking? That wasn't a babymoon that was a weekend from hell.
  • Isn't the point of a baby moon to spend time as a couple? Why would you bring your in laws and why would you share a room?
We brought my in laws b/c we thought "oh they never travel, it'll be good for them to get out".  Plus, my husband and I aren't very romantic right now, with how big I am.  We shared a room b/c its freakin' expensive and we thought we'd give them a break.  Never again!

Obviously I wasn't thinking!  I'm just going to blame it on my "pregnancy brain" for being such a dumbass and thinking it was a nice gesture/idea.
  • Oh man you lost me at sharing a hotel room with your inlaws. Hell to the no! Definitely not my idea of a baby moon. Yeah I have learned at this point in time my and my husbands parents act like children. Too much work and your trip sound hooooooooooooorrrrrrible! Hoepfully you guys can re-do it alonE

  • Yeah...other than the fire part, not really feeling sorry for you over here. Kinda feel bad for your ILs, though...

I dunno, if I was your MIL , I would want to change my clothes too.  I wouldn't want to go back to my seat with urine soaked clothes.  Plus, it was an accident.  She had to go and then tripped and fell.

As far as your FIL is concerned, I don't think he should have just left you guys and threw a tantrum, but on the other hand he couldn't help it if his poop stinks.  He is human after all.

I'm also not buying the whole "nice gesture" thing considering they paid for half of the room .  This was their vacation too and I truly hope you and your husband didn't embarrass or give them a hard time for having normal, human bodily functions.  How would you feel if this happened to you?  You had a really stinky poo or you tripped and accidently  peed your pants and they went around acting like you ruined their vacation because of it.

  • I would rather share a room with rabid squirrels than baby moon with my IL. No way.

  • I'm sure your MIL was pretty embarrassed, between the falling in front of everyone and then peeing her pants because she had been on her way to the restroom. She would probably think it was super awesome of you to post it on the Internet for random strangers to read about.

  • LOL! I absolutely love my in-laws.... but I could never share a room or spend a full vacation with them.

Sorry your baby moon stunk... maybe you can take a quick weekend getaway somewhere before the baby comes!

Um, it's not like i'm disclosing her full name?!  pshhh!
  • Good God that sounds horrible, but what a great story to tell (not like right away) someday... It will seem hysterical at some point... To you guys at least. :). I would NEVER travel with my I laws for a baby on though... Let alone share a room. Like never. And I mean NEVER.

  • Hilarious. It's like vacationing with my parents.
  • Wow...some people's comments are mean...you obviously put this on here to vent. Hopefully you'll all look back on this trip one day and laugh. Until then, just look forward to your baby's arrival. And now you know not to take anyone with you the next time!
  • Jeez, that sucks for everybody! I don't think anybody walked away from this feeling really good.
