Tylenol for fever!

My lo is 4 months and got her shots yesterday and has a little fever. My pedi told me to give Tylenol. Simple right? Wrong my child spits it out like no other lol I have tried a half a dozen ways! Please help any suggestions would be amazing thanks :) (took it fine when she was 2 months and got shots but now she is such a stinker:))

Re: Tylenol for fever!

  • I put it in a bottle nipple and let her suck it out maybe even mix it with a little breast milk or formula... I don't even attach the bottle, less dishes and then you know she got all the meds. Good luck

  • Be careful with trying a "half a dozen ways" bc your LO is still ingesting a small amount with each attempt. I second putting it in a bottle with a little milk/formula.
  • I also put mine in a bottle with a little formula, that's the only way she will take it.

  • They also do make medicine dispensing pacifiers as an option. And I second the poster who mentioned that each time you try to give her a dose she is likely getting something even if she's spitting a lot of it out so just be cautious.

  • Try dispensing very very slowly. Aim for the back of the cheek, as pp have said, and do a very little at a time. Patience.

  • I lay LO on the changing pad, squirt just a little in and then give him a paci, let him suck a little, then do some more, keep repeating until the amount is all taken. It seems to work for my LO.
  • I squirt it into the back of her cheek, a little at a time.

You are not suppose to mix it with formula. Also as PP have mentioned, each attempt LO is ingesting some medicine. Careful not to try too many times and give too much.

  • I was exaggerating. I measure it out and what she swallows she swallows what she doesn't she doesn't I don't give her more I wait the 4 hours and then if she needs it try again. I wouldn't risk giving her to much...
