Bump shaming, anyone else have this?

I know I don't post much but I'm a private person but tonight I've went over the edge! When my family did our reveal photos, I was 16 weeks and on the cute chalkboard, it said what the baby had weighed at the ultrasound, which the MD said was perfect. So a girl on Facebook that I was very close with in high school but just acquaintances with now posted "Wow, that's really small, my twins both weighed more than that at 14 weeks." She's 4 weeks ahead of me with twins. So I changed my profile picture tonight to my 18 week bump picture and she comments "You aren't showing at all, there isn't anything there at all." Seriously. It actually upset me. Who does that to people.

She sounds like a peach. You look great! People have different bodies and grow during pregnancy differently. Clearly you will be smaller than her since she has twins. Just ignore her..... Or tell her to shove off.

The best way to deal with comments like that is to not engage. Let them go. They have nothing to do with you and everything to do with her own issues.

Love the chalkboards!! You look great! I am also 18 weeks and our bumps look about the same... I may even say yours might be slightly bigger! You're friend is being rude and you should private message her and tell her how her comments make you feel. I'm sure she's also jealous if she's huge preggo and you're not!

it's totally passive aggressive snark! Unfortunately I have a lot of experience with that type of person. Don't engage her and change your privacy settings on facebook to block her from seeing your posts if you don't want to unfriend her.

@joules235, they are Madden girl from shoe carnival, the color on the box says black but I bought them because of the more gray tone. @BrightEyes112, I create them in photoshop, for myself and other pregnant friends. I can post a tutorial if you guys would like. It's all freebies I've found on the internet.

I get what you're saying though, my ILs make comments like this all the time comparing my bump to some other random person in the family who is due at the same time as me with twins. We have totally different body types and they don't get why we'd look different.

On a good note though, I LOVED your pics... I wish I would have done this with my last pregnancy. Maybe if I did it then, I'd actually be motivated to do it now with baby #2

People need to shut up and realize EVEY BODY IS DIFFERENT!! seriously. I want to hit her. Sorry a bit bitter when people decide it's okay to judge another person body. >:P

This same thing happened to me last Friday when I posted my 16 week pic on FB. I have no real visible bump and several people commented that I needed to stop sucking it in. It actually really bothered me.

She just sounds like she is jealous of how you look compared to her. I wouldn't let it bother you. You look beautiful with a beautiful bump. Big or small they are all wonderful for what they represent. Not what they look like. Hugs.

Thats what I did (different situation). Delete it, if she doesn't notice, then no worries. If she does, she'll PM you and you can deal with it off of your wall.

Or, if she isn't someone you talk to often, just delete her, lol.

I would guess that she's embarrassed that she's so big and she thinks she's paying you compliments. I doubt that she means to be cruel.

When I was pregnant with my first at 34 week (when her was delivered prematurely) no one could even tell I was pregnant. OMG I was so excited to have the nice round bump with my second. Every pregnancy is different and it all depends on how you carry. DS1 just happened to carry rather high and didn't lead to much of a bump but my goodness was I out of breath all the time lol. DS2 carried low and so I got a bump I started showing at 15 weeks with him. This go around I think carrying in between because at 17 weeks I see a bit of a bulge but no one else really does DH says he does but I'm not convinced. My BFF who is also preggers at 13 weeks has a very distinguishable bump starting.

You look wonderful and I think you should just block her from seeing your progression photos.

I have a friend who is due the day before me. She commented on my bump pic saying that I can't stand next to her for pictures cause I'd make her look like a beached whale.

You are not alone- I was in a maternity shop this week and this obnoxious girl comes in and is basically yelling the entire time about her pregnancy and how big she is and how she is carrying and blah blah blah. At first it was cute because she was clearly excited and happy which I totally get (she was 13 weeks and just had her first sonogram) but then it became annoying- especially when she looks at me and goes "how far along are you?" When I told her 19 weeks, she said "Oh I'm catching up with you! I'm 13 weeks (yes honey- I heard you screaming it the entire time you were shopping and we are the only two customers in the store) and just had my first sonogram. Omg I can't believe- you really aren't showing much at all- you are carrying so low and wide." She clearly was hinting that she looked bigger and more pregnant than me at 6 weeks earlier. Gee, I wasn't aware I was in a pregnancy contest. I just smiled and said my mom carried very high and round but she was much much shorter- I'm very tall and have a long torso so I have more room for a bump. I told her congrats and told myself "oh well she might be bigger now but that means she is going to be BIG later."

It's amazing the rivalry some women feel! Just revel in how cute you look and ignore the hell out of the bitch

I'm freaking huge and people comment all the time. (Is it twins? Nope. Not cute.) A friend of mine is due march and she has the cutest little bump! I was embarrassed that I'm 3 months behind her and I look bigger. I didn't say anything because I figured if I hated people commenting on how "huge" I am, she might not like someone commenting on how "small" she is.

You look gorgeous!! You've got beautiful skin and a perfect bump. I'm totally jealous and I'm sure she was as well. Don't let a thoughtless comment bring you down. You can always change your settings so that she can't comment on your photos or post on your wall.

As PP have said, I think it sounds like she's covering up her jealousy that she's going to resemble a whale soon and you are not. As much as I want my lil bump to expand, the longer it takes, the less likely I am to realize my fear of turning into a total house like some other members of my family have while pregnant. Pregnancy looks good on you!
