Favorite sling/wrap?

Hi, we have an Ergo baby carrier but I'm looking for one to wear around the house as I chase my toddler around, make her lunch, etc. what are your favorites?

Re: Favorite sling/wrap?

  • I'm in love with my Moby and LO loves it.

  • Same with the moby! LO falls right to sleep in it, I feel like a mama kangaroo
  • Looks difficult to tie! I'll check craigslist for one. What about the baby ktan, anyone?
  • I have a maya sling wrap. It's a little difficult to position the baby at first but easier once you get the hang of it. Luca's six weeks old and loves it.
  • I have LO in the Baby Ktan as we speak (ahem, type). I like it - it's very comfy - but I still feel like I can't get him positioned quite right. The instructions say he should be semi-upright but he keeps sliding so he's basically cradled laying down. He doesn't seem to mind but I don't want to hurt him. Must experiment more.
  • I like the Moby, although putting it on is a commitment! Once he's in, it's great!

  • I like my Boba wrap. It's basically the same as the moby.

  • The Moby becomes second nature, I think after the third time you tie it. The instructions are pretty straightforward -- go to the website and watch the video.

  • I got a super easy to use wrap at Burlingto Coat Factory for $20. It goes on like a t-shirt and the sides wrap over baby. It can also be worn three different ways up to 35 pounds. The brand is Fluerville.

I also have the ergo which I like but takes longer to get on and is kinda bulky for a newborn.
  • I love my moby! The first time I tried I didn't tie it tight enough, second time tried with assistance and got it right, today I put it on for the third time all by myself and got it fine. LO loves it and literally falls asleep within 1 minute!
  • I was a die hard Moby girl but then we got an ergo (had one before but previous DDs hated it so I gave it away) and I LOVE IT. I didn't get the newborn insert, I just swaddle her and pop her in. I feel more secure with her in the ergo whilest chasing our 2.5 and 1 yr old daughters.

  • I love the Boba. It was pretty easy to figure out after watching the video online a few times.
  • For those with a Moby, how do you keep from putting your LO's feet in an awkward position with the newborn hug position? I always feel like I'm on the verge of breaking a foot or ankle or something.

If he can move at all your k'tan is too big.
Hmmm, it's not that he moves, it's more like gravity makes him slide over time. I've got a small so I don't know that it's the size. I think it's more me not knowing what the eff I'm doing. Going to fumble around in the mirror more tomorrow.
  • I'm all about my Moby wrap! Got the hang of it the 2nd or 3rd time I used it. A friend showed me how but there are videos you can watch too
  • Another vote for the Moby...

  • I just started using the moby today and DS loves it. He was crying and fussy (that time of the night) so I stuck him in it and he calmed right down. Also worked like a charm for grocery shopping when I don't have my DH to push either the stroller or the cart!

I use the K'tan so I can chase after DD1 at home. I like it a lot. DD2 seems very comfortable. My only complaint is that it is good and snug in the mid-section (as it should be) but pretty loose in the shoulder area where her head goes. So she can move her head around a good bit. I am always holding it with one hand. I am still getting used to putting it on so it could be my fault at this point.
