Yesterday at DS's 15 month appointment, the doctor asked how many words he is saying. I told her about 3 - 4. She said that if he isn't up to about 8 - 10 by his 18 month appointment, we would have to go to early intervention to check his development.
Anyone else have their doctor tell them this?
Re: Early Intervention
She did not mention an intervention, though.
IMO - I think DS is "lazy" we all think he knows how to talk but is to lazy because he points and grunts and someone gets the object for him. We are working on making him tell us what he wants/needs.
I wouldn't worry :]

I used to refer people to EI regularly when I worked for the WIC program. It never hurts to get an eval, and even if your child does not need services, the therapist can give helpful advice.
