Growth spurs?

How do you know it's a growth spur? I'm a new mom and I'm wondering what symptoms your lo exhibits during a growth spur and when they're likely to happen.

  • I know at about 3 weeks baby wouldn't sleep and cluster fed like crazy. She also wanted to be held allllll day which isn't like her. You couldn't put her down without her being upset. You can definitely tell the baby is just "off"

  • We hit the six week growth spurt here and it's brutal. Staying the course though.
  • 7-10 days old, 3 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months and 9 months are usually the expected times for a growth spurt. Times can vary depending on the baby. They can last anywhere from 2-7 days. Maybe longer, again depending on the baby. Some babies may not even show signs of a growth spurt.

My DS went through a major growth spurt when he was 3 weeks old, for just over a week. He was breastfeeding every hour during the day, cluster feed for 3-4 hours in the evenings and nights every two hours. He was extremely fussy. He would latch on then come off then fuss for a bit. felt like he was never satisfied and was making me question my milk supply. It was a rough week.

From what I was told  if they have one bad growth spurt then their next growth spurt won't be as intense. Not sure if there is any truth to that lol.

I sure hope so!! 3 weeks was a doozy for us and we're working through the 6 week one now. Fingers crossed!

3 weeks wasn't fun. This 7 weeks one hasn't been bad at all knock on wood.

  • The 6 week GS was awful for my LO. Super fussy for about 3 days, voracious appetite, but that was also when he started STTN. He had 2 days of terrible sleep day and night, then when I was about to lose my sanity he STTN and slept a lot for 2 days. We're either just entering or in the middle of the 3 month GS (he's about 1/8th as fussy as the 6 week one).

  • This is day 2 of the 6 wk GS and its pretty bad. The 3 wk was a cakewalk all she did was eat eat eat. Now she def eats more but is really fussy and only sleeps while being held. I pray she STTN after this, momma needs it ,) GL
  • Any chance my lo is going through one? She is 8w2d, 7w2d adjusted, and she is being a bear! The last three days have been rough. I'm doing all I can right now to keep her sleeping. I know all babies are different but two weeks late on a gs?
