Has anyone ever had one of these before?  I went today for my ultrasound and they said I was 8 weeks and 5 days, and said I had this.  Said it was a small chance is miscarriage.  Just wanted to see what out comes others had.  THe heart rate was 179 and they said that was perfect.

Re: Subchrionic Hemorrhage?

  • Have you had any issues with it?

  • I had a subchorionic bleed with my latest pregnancy. It was found at 6 weeks and grew until after 12 weeks. It did not go away.

I was told that might have been the reason the placenta was not fully attached. (Which sounds scary but did not cause issues)

The pregnancy resulted in the birth of my baby girl.
  • I did. I had bleeding and clots at 6 weeks and bleeding continued on and off till 9 weeks. It was discovered at my 7 weeks ultrasound and I was told to take it easy. Went for follow up ultrasound today at 10 weeks and it is gone and so is the bleeding.

From what I was told, it is fairly common and generally doesn't cause issues except worry.

  • I have a very small one (less than 1cm) that was found on the u/s at 8.5 weeks. The doc told me it would not harm the baby and she did not tell me to do anything differently. She did say I might experience a one time gush of blood but I'm now at 11.1 weeks and I have yet to see it. I have a Doppler so I know baby is still there.

  • I also has a SCH that has increased in size. I'm 7wks 4days now and it was found in my first US at 5 weeks. My ob/gyn said that it's common and more then likely will correct itself without attention. She said to start pelvic rest as a precaution but it shouldn't cause any problems.
  • Thanks everyone.  My doctor acted like it won't a big deal but then said it was a chance I could lose the baby, which of course made me worry.

  • i have it too, i have been worried sick about it,  but from researching it i have found that you will either bleed it out or it will absorb into body.  It was found next to the gestational sac at my 5+6 and i am going back for another us on january 21st and i have just been praying and getting feedback and i will pray for you as well, because no matter how many times people tell you it is fine, it is still scary...
  • Yes it is.  I have looked at so many diffrent websites.  Some would have good news and some would have bad news.  I hate to over think anythink anything and worry, but it is so hard not to.

  • I have one too. My first us there was no hb so I haven't been focusing on the SCH just worried that the pg wasnt viable. Just got back from seeing the hb and now I am worried about the SCH. so far I have been spotting brown and red for a week. I'm so over it!

  • I had one with DD- mine was very severe and we were told that it very well could result in mc due to the substantial bleeding that I was experiencing. It was awful... I had period-like bleeding and was basically on edge until it resolved itself at 20 weeks. I was on bed rest as well. I don't say this to scare you- my point is actually that mine was very severe and DD is a beautiful, healthy, smart little girl today. They are scary and terrible to experience but most of the time it is rare that they result in mc. Mi wouldn't stress about it too much, sounds like your doc isn't which is a great sign!

  • I was just told I have a small one too but that seeing the heartbeat is a good sign. This does make me feel better that I am not the only one. I had some bleeding right before I found out I was pregnant and actually thought it was my period. Trying not to worry about it but of course I will worry until we have a healthy baby and then for the next 18+ years that they are okay! =)

  • I Just posted an article below about a study done recently that shows no greater risk of miscarriage with SCHs. I found it to be reassuring.

  • I had a SCH my last pregnancy. Doc told me if it is 1 cm or less it does not pose at an increased risk for miscarriage (although they will tell you it is a possibility, which is strange to me). Apparently it is the most common abnormality found in ultrasounds (25%).. they found it at 6w5d which was pretty early, did a follow up at 8w5d and it had shrunk some... by the time I had my anatomy scan at 20w, it was gone. It's scary but try not to worry too much :)
