April 2014 Moms

Childbirth classes

I just signed up for mine :) Feb. 10, 17, and 24. So when are your classes, relative to your due date?

Mine'll finish 9 wks before my due date. A little early but whatever. I'm a planner, what can I say :P

  • Starting this week with Bradley method, which will be a 12 week course. Haven't signed up yet for CPR, breast feeding, and a few others, but will so so this weekend. Trying to do as much in Feb. as possible, just to get it out of the way.

If you ask me what I came to do in this world, I, an artist, I will answer you:
I am here to live out loud!
  • Mine started this week - it's a six week course . The class isn't offered again until the end of April, which is why we are taking it now. There were women in my class with due dates in June.
  • We're doing a private 4-long-sessions bradley class.  Halfway done, but won't get the other two until March.  I'm due April 1.

  • We did a 1 day class last Saturday. Not sure what else we should do in regards to childbirth classes. We did get helpful info on hiring a doula so should be doing a few interviews next week! All the other classes we scheduled for February & DH has a boot camp for dads in mid-march.
  • We had one 3 hour course at the local hospital last Saturday and we have a second 3 hour course this Saturday. Then next month will be the breastfeeding class. I'm due April 3rd
  • Mine started this week - 4 week course. I also have a BF class at the end of February. I'm due April 11, but likely will deliver in March. I wanted to do my classes while I still felt comfortable to move/sit and before potential bedrest or early delivery with twins. We did a poll at the first class and I was the latest due date with ladies ranging from early Feb through Mid-April taking the class.

  • Ours start Monday, I have no idea what to expect from them. While looking up someone who does placenta encapsulation near me I found she offers some private childbirth classes so if I'm not pleased with these ones I can sign up for those hopefully.

A lot of people I've talked to, including SO, are very "You don't need classes, it's all basic knowledge" but I think I can count on one hand the amount of times I've held a child that was under a year old. Needless to say, I'm clueless on babies, much less the labor part of it.

  • I'm doing all of mine in Feb. FTM that has hardly any experience with babies (I've never even changed a diaper before), so I figured the more knowledge the better. I want to feel prepared by March, just in case she pops in a bit early!

  • @imogenisis THATS ME! never changed a diaper. anytime a child cries, i hand it right back to it's rightful guardian

  • We're doing a 4 week course starting in Feb. DH and I know nothing so a class was definitely necessary to make me feel a little more prepared.

  • Ours are early March, baby's due towards the end of April. I have NO idea what to expect but anticipate I'll learn something. After all, I don't really know much about the whole childbirth process and want to learn more about options/meds/etc.

I also signed up for Breastfeeding, which my DH isn't thrilled about, but the lady said men typically attend to - anyone taken this type of class?

I also need CPR/First aid but only am finding online options in my area. Anyone tried online? I'm skeptical of this option!
  • Mine started tonight it's 5 weeks and then week 6 I have a breast feeding class. I'm due 4/4 I'm also trying to find a CPR class that fits in our schedule to take

I was told to bring my SO to all the classes EXCEPT the breast feeding one they said that is just for moms
  • I'm glad I'm not the only one going a little early :) I feel pretty knowledgable already just from taking care of babies all my life (oldest of six, babysitting, church nursery, and most recently 2 nephews) but I just want to have as much info as possible, especially about the actual labor part. And I feel like it'll be good for DH :)

  • Doing Hypnobabies home study. Our birth center requires classes, included with the birth center fee package, and we'll do the Feb 15 all day class. The other option would be the April 12 session and that just seems too late - I'm due the 27th.
  • We're going to our 8-hr crash course at the hospital on Feb 7th. It's a bit early, my EDD is 4/20, but they only schedule one a month!

I signed up for a class starting on March 5th and ending on Apr 1st. It's supposed to be 5-6 meetings, 2 hours each. There will be a gynecologist, and obstetrician and a psychologist - not all at once! And they'll ask the future dads to come in one of the classes. I am so excited!!!
It'll end about 20 days before my due date, but I didn't want to take the course earlier because it's in the morning and I'll have to go to work.

  • My Classes were assigned by my midwife and start next week and run every Monday for 6 weeks. Finish about mid Feb.. It seems a bit early but then I think. Well this baby could really come whenever she wants to from March right on in to April.

Maybe I spend to much time in the birth months that are supposed to be giving birth soon because their seems to be a lot of babies who decide to come early and I'm just excited for our little lady to get here.  Of course now that I've said this...  She will arrive fashionably late!

  • I signed up for mine a couple of weeks ago. I am taking a 4 week child birth class with the DH. We start Feb 4th, we are really excited :)

  • @3crazykitties - all friends and colleagues I have talked to, strongly suggested me to go to the course. They say it's great to learn about thinks that may scare you, and to meet other future moms who'll have children more or less at the same time as you.

  • We're doing Hypnobabies. Starts Feb. 18 and goes through the end of March I think so 6 weeks. Since baby isn't due until the end of April I feel comfortable with that.

  • SO signed us up for like a million classes.  They run from the end of Jan through mid-March.  I'm due first week of April.
  • Due April 9 and we are taking classes each Tuesday night in February. We could have gone with March, but Feb. works out with our schedules.
  • We are taking our classes on March 8th and 15th, with a due date of 4/21. I would have loved to have done it in February, but our schedule didn't work out to do that.
  • Started Hypnobirthing this week so that I have plenty of practice time. Still need to sign up for BF and CPR. Due first week in April.
  • Mine starts next monday. Tzo get the combination of class I wanted (child birth, natural child birth, additional comfort measures) I needed to schedule early. Otherwise my additional comfort measures class would have been March 27th! And I'm due 04.13.
