Insane in the Membrane: Insomnia

Ok, so it might be early to start this(after midnight here for me) but I'm afraid I'm in for a long night as LO won't let me be for any more than a hour between feedings. Also DH is in the other room sound asleep and snoring so loud. I want to go in and smack him with a pillow or my fist....
Anyway, fun times.
Oh and here is a photo of my boobie lover.

Re: Insane in the Membrane: Insomnia

  • Weird problem... I just had to wake little one to feed her! It had been 6 hours since her last bottle. I could hear her little tummy rumbling but she wasn't waking. I hope this is a good sign of longer sleeps ahead!

  • Up doing work and comforting my oldest as she can't find a comfy position with her broken collar bone :(

  • Ugh after a horribly long night last night, LO has slept all day and I'm sure when he wakes next...we won't be going back to sleep. I slept from 11-12:30...and I can't go back to sleep. Whyyyyyyy

    Hope she heals quickly :(

  • Just woke LO after 5 hrs as my boobs were about to explode. It was a welcome change...too bad the stupid engorgement had to ruin it! Here's hoping I get another long stretch after this.

  • I have been trying to get LO to sleep for 3 hours and am back on the couch watching tv so I don't fall asleep. Every time I try to lay her down she wakes up. I too have cried cause I am so tired. I'm afraid we are getting our night and days mixed up cause she has been sleeping great in the day.

  • I'm here. Can't shut my brain off and have lots on my mind. Jack is sleeping, but it's been 3.5 hrs since I last fed him, so I don't even want to try to sleep as he could wake up any minute.

Can you sleep with music going? Might work for both you and Jude. That's actually how I fell asleep earlier after my shower and it was a glorious nap. Now she's up eating again.

@mavgirl I hope your oldest feels better soon.

I just fed him and will change him soon. If I can't sleep after that, I will definitely give that a shot.

  • My LO has been feeding hourly too! Plus she's angry crying for the last couple hours. She refuses to sleep, doesn't want to be put down, & won't even keep a pacifier in her mouth. I've already cried in frustration. We're in for a long night...
<br This happens to us a lot too. When I get overwhelmed I do the 5 s's to get a break from the screaming. Then I try to feed and comfort and paci all over. If she doesn't take the boob or paci and keeps screaming I keep doing the 5 s's while I drink coffe eat junk and watch tv to distract me. I've found wishing and trying to plan sleeping makes it soo much worse. Instead I load up on caffeine and plan on bring awake for the next few hours. I found she ALWAYS sleeps after 5 am if we have a bad night. Hang in there!!

  • 2am and just made it to bed, sleep is still a ways off though. Stayed up late to watch a movie with Dh, got the baby settled and then DS1 woke up crying. Not sure what is up with him, but I'll get him calmed down and he'll be fine then wake up crying again. No obvious signs of sickness/ discomfort. Finally caved and brought him to my bed, he's now laying across my chest twirling my hair and whimpering. Hope we can get this figured out soon!

  • After a miserable day of the 3 week growth spurt, Ari slept for 5 hours. Given that she hadn't slept all day it was AMAZING to finally sleep myself. Now I'm pumping and DH just finished a bottle. Wonder if we'll get another 5? Here's hoping!

This exactly. Except it was 4 1/2 hours because we decided it was time to move upstairs to the bed. I'm thinking about switching back to nightshift or at least trying so this should be interesting. If it doesn't work though that's cool too we will live we just miss our daddy :(

  • @mavgirl_73 I joke she heals up quick!!! Did you mention how she broke it? I don't recall seeing. Poor thing :-(

@sweetsouthernmomma08 I hope Benjamin feels better quickly too!!! :-(

I just finished a feeding and now I'm wide awake... Have to be up again in about 2 hours to get ready for work and get Ariella together to go to my moms.

  • Awake for second feeding. DH kept him early in the night so I could get some sleep.

I'm really considering moving him into the nursery and his crib at night. He is soooo loud. Even when I am "sleeping" I'm gettig crap sleep because he snorts or breathes so loud. It's way sooner than I wanted to do it and he still gets up at least twice a night to eat. I worry because now I can get to him to feed him when he's just fussy and before full on cry mode. I worry that he'll work himself to crying by the time I wake up and get him in the nursery. :(

Has anyone else made the transition out if your room so early? Want to give me a pep talk or advice? I did this with DS1 at 8 weeks, but he was sleeping through the night at that point.

DD has been up since 4am grumbling and growling. She had a good stretch of 3 1/2 hrs, up to nurse then down for two more. I am thankful she doesn't cry (and actually wasn't looking to be picked up) but it's impossible to sleep with a baby grumbling next to you. She's finally out but DS will likely be up in a 1/2 hr so it's not worth trying to sleep now :(

We moved LO to the nursery at 5 weeks because of this. She grunts and groans alllllll night long and DH and I weren't sleeping even when she was because it was just too loud! She has actually done great in her crib and I've gotten to her before full on crying every time and my nursery is way down the hall from our room. I just keep the video monitor very close to my head! Good luck!

She tripped going down the steps from a slide at the park. DAMN all the slides!
