Prentice OB recommendations

Hi All!

I'm TTC and looking for an OB that delivers in Prentice. My RE has recommended a few OBs for me and I wanted to know if anyone had positive experiences with them.  I'd love to hear your thoughts on:
-NMPG: Dr. Catherine Chen, Dr. Tim Garvey, Dr. Scott Moses or Dr. Laura Stock
-NSW: Dr. Ali Wu

TIA!

Re: Prentice OB recommendations

  • I've been seeing Dr. Stock for my first pregnancy. I really like her, especially how quickly of a response I get from her she when I leave messages.

  • Dr. Catherine Chen was my primary OB for my daughter 3 years ago.  I loved her as an OB but felt a bit of a cold shoulder after I delivered.  Not sure if that was really true or just me but I loved her all along the pregnancy process.  She was awesome about letting me email her with any random question and she was awesome about getting back to me.  I LOVED that, especially as a FTM.  Tim Garvey ended up delivering me and I really liked him.  He was kind, and willing to take his time in my well visits to make sure I had asked all questions I had.  I really appreciate that since sometimes I felt rushed.
I will say I had a couple really bad experiences with Dr. Starr (same practice).  She dropped the F-bomb in my first appointment with her (I am NOT the kind of person who takes kindly to that, much less the lack of professionalism) and she was still doing it in the hospital when I was in labor in front of my husband.  Of course, she was on call when I went into labor.  Thankfully my daughter was born after her shift ended.
Other than that I felt the practice was fine
  • I see Lisa Mazzullo. I like her but I'm having some billing issues right now with their office (insurance isn't covering genetic screenings when the dr said they would be).

  • Dr. Melissa Auger is my OB and she is nice, no nonsense, fast and knowledgable. Dr. Garvey is in the same office and he is also wonderful--I know him personally and he is a very calm, smart and trustworthy kind of guy.
  • Dr. Nadine Bolger is fantastic!  She has a great bed side manner and was FULLY supportive of my non-medicated child birth!
  • With my first I was with NMPG.  Dr. Garvey was my main OB there and I LOVED him.  LOVED him.  Dr. Auger delivered my baby girl via c-section and I really liked her as well.  I will say I also loved the phlebotomists there at NMPG.  I'm bad with needles and blood and always have to lie down and it never hurt, they were patient and always remembered me.

If I wasn't so far from NMPG and Prentice now I'd go back there in a heartbeat!

About to be 2 under 2 up in here!

  • I had LO at home with a midwife (Sarah Simmons with New Life Midwifery, if anyone is interested - LOVED her), but I saw Dr. Garvey when I miscarried in the summer of 2012.

He was amazing.  He treated me with the utmost kindness and respect, and he was very understanding and patient with me, which is good because I was a wreck and have really bad anxiety due to a traumatic experience with doctors as a child.  I would highly recommend Dr. Garvey.
