Doctor vent

I saw my Ob this morning, still contracting every 2 to 5 minutes since 2:40 am Tuesday morning although their not strong. She says I think baby is coming tonight or tomorrow but if not we will induce her Monday as scheduled. So when I got home I called the pediatric orthopedic surgeon to let them know that baby is coming anytime between now and Monday. I was informed that now I can't have the surgeon I picked out, I have to go with whoever is on call. The reason we had planned an induction in the first place was because I was told by the surgeon he would come to delivery to see her because of his impending vacation as long as she was born before the 17th... I'm so frustrated!! This is not how this was supposed to go!!

    That is so frustrating...I worry that this will happen to me if I go before my scheduled induction.  But, you never know, you could end up with someone you like even better!  At least, that's what I tell myself.  Good luck and hang in there!

    I'm sorry, but I don't understand your surprise.  If your baby arrives earlier when your orthopedic surgeon of choice is not on call did you expect them to go on duty saturday morning at 2 am?  I hope that you don't go into labour any earlier than your scheduled induction date, but I think it is fair for the doctor to set boundaries on which times they go on call.

    Did your doctor specifically tell you this? If so, can you talk to him directly?

    I've had doctors tell me one thing and then the office staff tell me something else because they have routine procedures. They can't just make him be on-call for you but he can request to be called specifically for you. Does that make sense?
