One & Done: Only child

Have we ever done this? How old are you?

This just kind of came up in another conversation and got me wondering what the median age of everyone on here was. Care to share? I know a lot of the people that I know that have onlies as a conscious choice seem to be right around my age group but that could just be coincidence for all I know!

  • Being over 40 definitely reduces the number of people who ask us about having another.

  • I'm 40 and people still ask me all the time.

You don't seem to look it though. I have wrinkles, greying hair, and a frumpy wardrobe. No one assumes TTC would still be easy.

I have even been mistaken for his grandmother.

  • I'm 28 (so is DH).

    DS 11.24.11
    MMC 3.30.16
  • I will be 27 this month!! Woot Woot!
  • Some of you guys are a lot younger than I thought! I'm 38 but pretty immature. :)  I've been childless so long that while all my friends in my age group had kids, I wound up making a whole new set of friends that were around 10 years younger than me because they were much easier to relate to. I work at a university so I've always had a very age-diverse group of friends since we have lots of people of all ages working side by side. I have a few friends my age that have teenagers and two Facebook friends that are grandmothers, which is just insane to me.

I would say 60% of my friends are over 30. And they are freaking awesome!

    NOT conceited, though.....  I'm not.

The 30's have been the best age decade for me, hands down. I love the 30's.

  • I wasn't going to post until I noticed I must be [one of?] the youngest on this board! I am 24. I am mostly a lurker- I post once in a blue moon, but I must say, I am so glad to have found this board. You ladies have given me the confidence to shut people down, and not feel guilty about it, when they insist I MUST have another. I know 100% that I do not and will not want another. I believe they are especially annoying when insisting because they are so rude about it, I'm assuming because of my age... I just give a stern "No." now and change the subject :)

34 and you live 5 min from Nisky? I'm thinking there is a good chance you were in my husband's HS class. (Colonie 1998?) OK - you don't have to answer that one. And I won't probe any more, I promise!!

DH and I are 33. I consider myself one of the fence sitters on this OAD board. One of the biggest pressures in my mind is my age. I know I'm not *old*, but I'm no spring chicken, either.
    @ICarriedAWatermelon - you have a PM :)

Please post more! Jump on in!  We won't bite, I promise. Not hard, anyway ;)
My H was 23 when we decided to be parents of any only.  He had a vasectomy at just 26, so not far from your age.  When people are younger, apparently that gives others a means to assume they don't know what they're talking about, and minds will change.  I guarantee you, ours never did.. and now we're in our 30's.
