Are you or have you gotten a little potty chair, or a potty seat that goes on the toilet, or both? My thought is get potty seats for the toilets so I don't have to clean out a potty chair, but maybe there are other pros or cons I'm not thinking of? What do you prefer?

If you child is on the shorter side, he might not be able to reach the foot stool, and since toddlers usually squat to poop, he might not be able to on a potty seat.
However, not having to clean out a potty chair is a big pro, and there's no need to transition afterwards from potty chair to potty seat.

Well, he is over the 99th percentile for height, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Mainly because I didn't want to clean out a potty chair and because I heard lots of people say that their little boys junk wouldn't fit on the potty chairs. We installed the seats on both toilets in our house and so far I love it. Shayne is no where close to potty training but we do sit him on the potty every night before he gets in the bath tub, one of these days he might surprise us and actually pee, LOL.
That looks good, I like how you can just lift it up and it's a regular toilet (do all seats do that? I have no idea). I am also not really close to actual training, but we need to start doing what you are doing and getting him used to sitting on the potty at least.

We have a foot stool and a potty seat. We have a potty chair, but DD#1 never really liked it so we switched. DD#2 is already attempting to use the potty seat. I'm glad we switched. It also makes it easier when out and about because kiddo is used to using a real toilet.
