TTC after 35

Follicle Viewing

I'm out - just got AF - very disappointed but moving on to testing this cycle.  My insurance needs me to do a hormone panel and then a follicle viewing with my OBGYN before going to a specialist for further testing.  My question for you ladies is this:  the OBGYN has said that hormone testing will be CD 2 and the viewing on CD 10.  Since my cycle is longer on the front end, isn't CD 10 a little early? I don't ovulate until CD 21-24.  What do you think?

Edit to add:  My cycle has been 35-37 days with the variance being a longer period of time after AF and before O.  Luteal is 13-14 days.

Re: Follicle Viewing

  • So sorry for your bfn cycle.  Testing is a good first step and moving on to an RE when possible.

Blood work can be done anywhere from CD1-CD3 preferably...   Not sure about your follicle viewing.   Most follicle scans for testing are done during AFC counting during days 1-3 so that must not be what your obgyn is looking for. So I take it your Dr.  is just checking to see if you have a developing (growing) follicle at CD10...not quite sure baout that one... I would ask to clarify.

Yes - she is checking to see if the follicles are doing anything, to see if there are any cysts, and/or if there is further indication of anything negative (her words not mine).  I think its also just an insurance thing about needing verification that there is reason to go to an RE beyond just not being pregnant.  At the same time she has ordered a sperm count for hubby.  I guess my concern is that since I ovulate at a much later date is CD 10 too early to see much?  Wouldn't I be growing more slowly so if a "regular" cycle is CD 10 I should go at like 15 or something?  I don't want to waste money now with multiple visits if we are already going down a medical/money trail anyways...

  • I hear what you are saying and I think even cd10 they will start seeing something happening. But be sure to talk to them when you go in, they may have you come back in a few days.
