My SIL had it with her first and I've noticed with her second she hasn't used it at all - she uses the FP cuddle bunny swing (or whatever it's called). I am going to assume that if she didn't dig out the mammaro then it wasn't worth it.
We had it with DS, the movement was too fluid, he didn't care for it. My sister used it with her son and he seemed to like it okay. We will try it again with this one since we have it, but I wouldn't waste the money on it.
It worked glorious for us for all of 3 weeks, and then DS2 could care less about it.. We also didn't buy it, though, until he was 2-ish months old.. so, perhaps it'll work better with our 3rd being able to use it from the beginning. DS2, though he is an amazingly good baby, he never napped in the beginning.. hated the traditional swing.. so, mamaroo was a good option for us.. but, like I said, it only really helped for 3 weeks.. I wish the movements would go faster.. then I think it would be more useful.. the up and down motion is genius, it's just sooooo slowwwww! If I were you, I'd wait and see.. if you have a traditional swing already, give that a whirl and if it doesn't work, then maybe see if a friend has a mamaroo you could try before investing? You also might be able to find one on craigslist..
The Mamaroo is the only one I've seen that actually has a plug in which is a feature that I REALLY want this time, but I don't want to spend that much money! :-P
Oh yes, I have all sorts of wraps and carriers - moby, ergo, beco, meI tai, storch, etc. They didn't help with the colic. I don't think anything helps, we tried so many things. I'm scared of it happening again!
That's a bummer! My DS1 had terrible colic.. but, wrapping him helped sometimes.. SSCs didn't hold him tight enough to my body, but if I wrapped him, he was content.. for a short period.. We were terrified our DS2 would be colicky as well, but we got lucky.. he was/is an angel baby!!
