For an elective ultrasound at radiology facility. My a/s is scheduled at 21 weeks. I'm currently 17.3 wks and I have ants in my pants that are making me itch to find out what I'm having. Is the cost worth it?
I went to Goldenview ultrasound..There are only four different locations so you may want to check the locations .. but besides that I paid 49.00 to determine the gender...in which I learned the gender, received pictures, and a dvd was provided.. I really liked it there...the tech was really nice, the facility was clean, and the service is well recommended.
There are only 2 places close to me, but both are about 75-150 depending on what package you choose. You might want to call first and see if they even have availability though. Some fill up weeks in advance.
I had no idea it was so (relatively) inexpensive. I googled after seeing this, now I am wondering if I should do it. I've been really frugal lately, but I haven't even scheduled my a/s yet and I'm dying!
I'm debating on spending the $50 to find out or just waiting until my weekly u/s's starting at around 22w. I had my a/s today and they wouldn't tell me the baby's gender w/o scheduling a gender u/s for $75 but there's a radiography place a few blocks closer to my house for $25 less and they give us 5 photos and we can bring family if we want. I get my free DVD of my a/s next week though. DH and I thought we saw the money shot and are pretty sure we know the gender though office won't confirm without the $75 so I'm hoping I can see for sure on our DVD if not we'll probably do an elective and bring DHs grandmother.
I actually hadn't looked into it until this thread (just realizing now I still have 6 weeks to wait until we find out...ugh) and the packages here seem to be between $80-$100 for the "basic" 10-minute 3D/4D ultrasound. One place will offer a DVD of the whole session and 4 B&W photos as well for $95 so I am asking hubby if he's interested...
We did it at a little over 16 weeks. DH surprised me with the appointment because I was dying to know the sex! It was $100 and totally worth it. Not only because we got to tell our families at Christmas time, but because it was 20 minutes of us just getting to see our tiny baby. She sucked her thumb and got the hiccups! She was quite the little show off too! We also got a dvd of the whole session and a cd of the pictures the tech took. It just felt a little more personal than any ultrasounds I have had at the doctor's office. A memory I will never forget!

My OB is making me wait til 21 weeks too!! I'm also 17 weeks.... I'm dying to know and make sure everything is good with baby!!
We thought about it just because we want the nicer printouts and DVD. It is $50 for the package, but my dh decided he didn't want it I'm not sure how I fell, and am thinking about pushing it, but don't just don't know if I'll find it worth it in retrospect.
It was a great experience! I feel at ease. My munchkin was so active. If you can do it I absolutely recommend it.
Is there a reason why your doc wouldn't let you get it done at 18 weeks? Just curious as that's when I am getting mine and was ordered by both doc and told it was the earliest I could get it by the imaging center. Congrats on the boy!
