24 hour pee test... Yay :s

Anyone done this yet? My doc wants a baseline so I am doing it tomorrow. I am not sure what to expect!

  • I've done a couple. It isn't bad, just a little inconvenient.

This exactly.  It's really NBD.  Just pee in the cup (they gave me a large collection container), and pour it in the big jug.  Keep the jug in the fridge, and return it to the lab the next day.

  • Did two during my last pregnancy. Not terrible, just annoying! And you need to have your big jug of pee in the fridge! My DH was grossed out!

  • I have to do it too for baseline. I can pick any day next week so am choosing a day I don't have to leave the house.
  • I've had to do it a couple of times. My only problem was that I filled up the jug and still had 8 hours to go! Had to steal another jug from my MILs office.

  • I've done this 6 times. (previous pregnancy and now twice so far this one) it's no biggie. Just make sure you have a big enough jug!

  • I had to do it twice- once for a baseline and once at the end of my pregnancy. The most annoying thing was that the jugs my office gave were too small- and they knew it because it came with instructions on what to do if (when) you ran out of room in the jug they gave you...so I had to make sure and have a clean vessel ready for the overflow...

  • Thanks all :) glad I have the day off!
  • It is pretty clear I need to drink more.... Bedtime and it is 25% full... Hope that doesn't mean I fail :(
  • I've done it 3 times (once this pregnancy, twice last).  It's annoying but otherwise it's not a big deal.  You get a little pan to put on the toilet to pee in, then dump that into the jug.  Keep it refrigerated.  Easy peasy.

  • As a Type 1, my OB had me to do this after a pre-conception checkup to get a baseline pre-pregnancy.
