15 month olds won't play with me!

edited January 2014 in Multiples

Haha, the title of this post might sound funny, but I'm looking for other twin moms who have similar situations. Typically when I'm in the floor interacting with my girls, all hell breaks loose. They both SIMPLY MUST sit in my lap, but they refuse to share my lap, they refuse to let me read to them both because they fight over who's holding the book, they want the toy that Sis is holding, etc. It just always ends in a big meltdown!

On the other hand, they are perfect angels when I'm disengaged! They pass toys back and forth, giggle at each other, no crying, no fighting! What gives?? What is it about mommy being there that makes them go crazy!? Please tell me I'm not alone! :(

  • I can't tell you why, but I can tell you that my 17 month old twins are the same way.  They play SO well together, but once I'm on the floor with them they're fighting for my attention.

  • Same here. I used to look so forward to reading books before bed but we had to stop by it went from soothing night ritual to mass chaos. I think it's normal.

  • I could have written this myself...If i'm not in the room, the twins usually get on just fine. As soon as I enter they both need to be on top of me. It's exhausting. We're also going through serious nursing jealousy.

AND just this week DD has started picking on DS when I'm not in the room...just being mischievous but now I can't leave them alone for two minutes!

Hope things even themselves out. Soon.
