HCG levels, ovulation and AF- confused and worried

I had a m/c with misoprostol exactly 4 weeks ago yesterday. My HCG levels on Monday were still at 9.

I feel so certain that I ovulated around Christmas- I had ALL the symptoms. Today I have period like bleeding. No cramping yet (which I usually get at the beginning of AF- am expecting soon). But now I am so confused and worried because I keep reading that your HCG levels need to be at 0 before you can even ovulate. So what is this??

I had a follow up ultrasound a week and a half after my m/c and it was verified that I had no remaining tissue, so I shouldn't have an infection (no other symptoms of an infection- I called the OB yesterday because I was still having spotting and she said totally normal up until you get first AF). But I am confused about my levels/ovulation and if this is AF. Can anyone help? Could I have ovulated with low HCG levels? Thanks in advance.

    I'm pretty sure it's not true that you have to be at 0 to ovulate. Are you charting or using OPKs? That might help in terms of figuring out whether you ovulated.

    I unfortunately didn't use the OPKs this month because I knew we weren't going to TTC. I did start taking my temp though last week and it was elevated like it usually is after I ovulate and today it went down to pre-ovulation temp, which makes sense since I seem to be getting AF. 

    I just keep reading contradictory things about whether or not you can ovulate with hcg still floating around. Thanks for your response!

    I would recommend asking your doctor about the necessary HCG level for ovulation. Also, you may want to consult the ladies on the TTCAL board. They may have some good advice.

    My doctor was actually unsure believe it or not. How helpful! haha! Thanks, I will try that board.

    My hcg levels dropped rapidly the first couple weeks after my miscarriage, but the last 100 have been slow to drop. I believe that my Period started before reaching zero a few days ago.


    BFP #1 11/02/13, EDD 07/04/14, BO diagnosed 12/12/13 at 9w5d
    BFP #2 6/12/14, DD born 2/21/15

    Thanks for all of your responses. I definitely have my period- had my regular cramps Wednesday and everything seems like it is like my cycles before. My HCG levels were tested again yesterday and they are at 6. So I guess just coming down slowly.
