Recommend your high chair

I apologize if this was discussed before in the days when I was not as active. We are finally getting a high chair because we are finally starting solids this weekend! What high chair do you have? Do you like it? Is there one you would recommend? I'm looking more for a stand alone one rather than the kind that straps on a chair.

  • We have a space saver as well and love it
  • We got one as a shower gift but after getting it out we didn't like it a lot. It was ugly and huge. The base was so wide it barely fit in the kitchen. We got a used one similar to this ( https://m.target.com/p/eddie-bauer-standard-highchair-clearbrook/-/A-14017651) and too the plastic one to the inlaws since it folds up.

The wooden one takes up so much less room and looks much nicer to.

We have the Graco Blossom and kinda hate it.  There is a lot of space between her body and the tray so stuff drops down all the time and it seems a little far for her to reach.  It's possible we aren't using it right but I am pretty sure we are and there is just too much room (and we do not have a small kid!)

ETA I'm an idiot - you can move it further in - see post further down

  • We have the gracious blossom too and I have liked it so far. It took some time to put together but I think it will be great for the long haul as it has a lot of pieces that they can use for a long time.

  • The ikea one is great. All plastic so its easy to clean!

  • We have the graco blossom and I love that it has wheels and isn't huge. DD loves playing in it right now while I'm cooking or doing laundry. We haven't tried solids yet so I guess we will see how that goes! It's definitely not flush to her stomach but I plan on using those bibs that catch food anyway
  • We have the space saver as well, I really like it.

  • I really like my Carter's high chair. It's 3 year's old (my daughter used it) & has held up nicely. I have no idea what it's called, but it's dark wood and matches my dining room set.
  • Another vote for Graco Blossom 4 in 1--DS1 used it and is now using the toddler booster at our table, and DS2 will take over the high chair here when he starts solids in a few weeks.  If you are planning to have another LO within the next two years I would recommend this one because then you don't have to buy a separate booster for your first born!

We have the graco blossom too. You can push the tray in by pressing on the oval on the tray that says graco. Oliver is normal size, around 17lbs, and the tray touches his body when pushed all the way in.

OK I feel like a HUGE idiot!  I swear I tried everything and I just thought it was a crappy chair.  Yeah I didn't realize you could move it further in by pushing the button.  Ok so I take back what I said before and I would recommend it because other than the fact that you can't be an idiot and use it it is pretty good haha

ETA @bridge2005 - seriously THANK YOU!

  • Ok - Graco Blossom users - is there a way to remove the tray without using the oval? I got used to using the side grips like the FP saver does, but for me this just drops down the tray for the future seat.

I do love the pleather seat though. Such easy cleanup.

    Thanks!

  • We also have the fisher price space saver. I love it because our kitchen/dining area is small and I didn't want a full high chair taking up space. Plus it's portable and we can take it to my parents for family dinners and they don't have to store their own high chair for her.

Exactly this.  But we have lots of room.  I just wanted her to be able to sit at the table with us. (even though we rarely eat there).  I like that it reclines since DD is not a great sitter yet.
  • We keep the FP space saver in the car for when we eat out (no icky wooden seats, plus she isn't awesome at sitting) and dinner at friends houses.

  • We have a Chicco 360 swivel booster seat. It isn't a standalone, but it doesn't require a chair, either, and it puts him at the table with us. Plus I love that it swivels, so he can face the table or turn to face me sitting next to him feeding him.

This kid may not have a lot of bowel, but he has plenty of guts!
DS born at 34 weeks with (surprise!) gastroschisis turned short bowel syndrome.
131 days in the NICU, 7 trips to the OR, G-button, daily TPN....
We are impatiently awaiting the day we can say goodbye to his girlfriend Ivy for good.
  • Thanks for all of your input, guys!  You've given me a lot to think about.

  • I have a clip-on one (the Inglesina version, I got it on Amazon), so it attaches to the table, not to a chair. Probably not quite what you're looking for, but I find it super-convenient to have DD at the same "level" as the rest of us while we're eating. Also, it fits much better in our apt than a high chair would.

    Ikea Antilop. Love it.

    This.

  • We own the Bloom Fresco. They're pricey, but they're highly adaptable. So far, it has gone from being a newborn cradle, to presently- a high chair, and will accommodate up to 79 lbs. as a dining/ play seat.

  • We have a wooden Eddie Bauer one. What I liked the most about it was that it has a shelf under it where I can store bibs and washcloths. I needed the extra storage space in my old kitchen.

  • Another vote for the blossom. LO loves sitting in it to play while I'm busy in the kitchen. It's not too big, and I like that it has a booster seat too

Jealous. I drool over that chair.
I love the fact that LO can eat at the table with us. it's also really well made (better be for the price).
  • Space saver here too. We've been very happy with it so far
  • I believe ours is a safetyfirst and I know its called the Nosh. We love it. LO spends time in it daily even though we aren't on solids yet.
  • Graco Blossom 4 in 1. LOVE IT!!! So easy to use and it has wheels to move around the kitchen with me.
