medical records opened a can of worms....

I recently recieved my medical records from the RE because we will be going for a second opinion Monday and now looking closer at some things, there were some major red flags....Any input is appreciated!
first of all, in all of my husbands SA (but I will be specifically talking about the last one we used for transfer), he only had 6 total sperm 2 motile and 100% forward progression....gradient prep (anyone know what this is?) yielded 23 total sperm, 2 motile, 0% forward progression. Morphology showed head shape defects, double tails and pin heads!!!! WTF....im guessing this is all bad and will ICSI even work! I am so ticked we weren't given these details....when asked about the samples they always said they were "good enough" and only talked about totals and motility....never about morphology. and here is my last cycle details....

notice the lining decrease....I only found out about this on my last monitoring appointment....and also, my E2 levels dropped the last monitoring appointment...
I am now obsessing again over stupid IF!!!!!! I think I found myself a new job....I will be doing lots of researching in the next few days for sure!

As for the sperm that is very poor if your husband were a stallion he would be snipped and sold as a gelding as you can't get anything viable from that I only say it this way because I went to school for this.

You can't icsi double headed sperm or ones that go in circles unless you try and manipulate them which it sounds like they put a solution in there to do. I have a call but will give you more detail later

Ok so let me try to explain this when you get a sperm sample in to the lab there is debris etc that has to be washed off. There are many different ways to do this and also many solutions. In many cases a centrifuge is used with added solution to get the debris caught and then the ability to draw it out is easy. The issue with this is that it can destroy sperm and motility.

In your husbands case they used way to much fluid to do this and ruined the motility. There was a study done by NIH that's said sperm motility is drastically reduced by 100% fluid. Also the method they used was too strong for the sperm from the little you have told me. Also when you look at sperm you want to see most of them moving forward with good tails and heads not spinning in circles having weird shapes when you do a sperm count all this info is on their when your DH had this stuff checked what numbers did he get?

There are also methods to improve motility also used in your case but they have pitfalls as well.

If the sperm were like this I would have suggested freezing eggs and getting a better sample or using ds.

I'm so sorry. I know when I got my records there were a few things not mentioned to me as well. Just wondering, did you just start PIO when your lining went down? I know its normal for it to thin out once you start it. ((hugs))

I'm sorry that the records gave you even more questions. I think the second opinion is a good idea. You have some hard choices to make going forward which may be continuing to keep trying IVF or adding in a third party option. No one ever wants to hear this. I remember a doctor saying to me "do you want a baby now or can you wait for one? If you can wait, keep trying with OEs. It may happen. If you don't want to wait, a donor may get you there quicker". This applies for both eggs and sperm. There's no right answer but its awfully painful to experience. Hugs.

I agree with the second opinion. It sucks to find out after the fact that the environment was not ideal. I remember looking at my records of failed cycles thinking - why didn't they say anything to me? Don't I have the right to know? Sending you many hugs.

That's really obnoxious. I'm so sorry you had to find out things were not as you were lead to believe.

I would definitely get a second opinion, but try to keep an open mind.

I have always left a clinic after I felt like they didnt have our best interest at heart or I couldn't trust them.
Sounds like you're done with them.

Hoping for only the best for you as you move forward.
