Re: Big kid bed - CP

  • DD is good in the crib- haven't even thought about it yet.

  • DD's room is too small for a twin bed, so she will sleep in her crib as long as we are in this house. We can move one side down to use as a rail and then remove it entirely so it's basically a little daybed.

If we must, we'll just put her crib mattress on the floor.  I don't see that happening, though.

When we move in two years or so, we'll transition her to either the twin daybed in our basement storage (used to be my sister's) or one of the Jenny Lind twin beds in my parents' attic (also formerly used by my sister).  Just depends on which fits in her new room.
  • I'm in no rush! I'm thinking she'll stay in the crib until she climbs out, or I need to potty train her at night.
  • Unfortunately, I will be making the transition in the next few months. He's climbed out twice.

  • He's never attempted to climb out. Only in the last few weeks has he discovered hanging onto the rail and jumping up and down. He's staying put for the foreseeable future. I've got a newborn coming in 2 days...transitioning my toddler out of his crib? Ain't nobody got time for that!
  • I will keep him in a crib until he tries to climb out, which he's showing no signs of.

  • Not even close! She'll be in her crib for as long as possible. She will stay on her mat at daycare, but I doubt she would do that at home, because she fights naps here. I don't know how they keep her still. No one who knows her believes it's possible to!

  • DS was in a big bed (queen size) at 15 months b/c DD was coming & he did great.  DD has no one coming behind her, so she'll stay in the crib for a while probably.  I don't have any plans set in stone yet.

  • DD is still in her crib but she has been sick this week and when she wakes up in the middle of the night she refuses to stay in crib she wants to sleep in the twin bed in her room with us. I find this sort of odd since we never slept with her in our bed. Thinking might be moving out of the crib sooner than I hoped.

  • Where's the 'LO is still in your bed' option? ;)
ditto-- DS still sleeps with us. i have tried to transition him into the crib, but it's not worth the struggle for me, honestly. i probably won't push it until we're expecting #2. so he'll probably end up going directly into a toddler bed.

This is us, exactly. She fights it so bad and I'm personally okay with the extra snuggles while she's little:)
