Is this teething behavior or something else

DS recently got his first tooth, since then we've had a good stretch of decent sleeping until last night. He slept for about 3 hours and then was up, wanted to eat, went back to sleep for another 2 hours however his sleep was very active. I kept hearing him make little noises and little yelps, it looked like he was dreaming up a storm.

Around 2 he got up and slept in 30 minute intervals for the rest of the night but only if we were holding him, even when he was alseep he seemed to be again breathing heavily, alot of eye movement and arm fidgeting. Last time he was teething he had sleep difficulties but it wasn't this bad at all, we could at least get him to sleep in our bed or in our arms for a few hours at a time.

Does this sound familiar to teething issues? I feel like DH and I attribute everything to teething when it's possible it could be something else.
