TP for MIL!

I had some trouble BFing at first due to using a nipple shield and LO didn't gain enough weight at first because of it. I worked day and night to feed and pump in order to give LO every ounce, as well as had to supplement for a few weeks. All that is in the past now and we are back to EBF and LO is gaining weight  just fine.

The TP comes in for MIL because every time he cries, she likes to tell us it's because he's hungry and will "check up" on LO's weight then tell us he needs more milk. He is fine and I'm super sensitive about this subject because it was absolute hell for me for weeks but I put on my big girl panties to do what needed to be done for LO. I've put her in her place a few times about this but it doesn't seem to stop her. I'm really close to telling her that if she can't keep her comments to herself, then she won't be invited to be around us.

Sorry - End Rant.

  • I'm sorry she's being a douche.  This whole parenting thing is really difficult in the confidence department.  It's hard to look someone in the eye and tell them you know what is best for your child when you know they've been a parent far longer than you have.
  • That's really mean of her.  Does she know how hard BF was for you in the beginning?

  • Haha! Funniest thing I've read all day!!

Every time she does it, ask her how her weight is doing.

  • @yummeecookee - I'm not sure to what extent, to be honest, I was embarrassed at first and went through a rainbow of emotions for the first 5 weeks of BFing, so I only talked about it with close friends. I know I shouldn't have felt that way but none the less I did. What gets me is that she never BF, never gave it a try..nothing. To each their own and I hold none of that against her, but she clearly doesn't understand how difficult it can be for people. I talked to hubs about it and he plans to say something when it comes up again (I told him not to worry about it until she acts a fool once more).
