Parenting after a Loss

~*~ Toddler Check-in ~*~

Posting a wee bit early, so I can't flake and forget tonight!

How are you all and your littles? Any funny stories this week? Challenges?

Feel like I'm experiencing a wave of BFPs lately among mama friends and acquaintances. Anybody else thinking of growing their family? How's TTC going, for those of you that are already?

How do you plan to get through cooped up January with an active toddler?!

  • Hello ladies! We took DD outside today since it was almost 50 and supposed to go below 0 in 24 hrs! She loved it! DH pulled her in the Wagon and we got some great pics!
We are currently TTC#2 (since August) and I'm in the 2WW right now. Ive had cramping and breast tenderness but i get that before my pd too.Not getting my hopes up but I feel we timed BD pretty good so fingers crossed. I'm 8 dpo today so im trying to wait til Tuesday or Wednesday. AF due Thur/Friday. I make TTC way more stressful on myself than I probably need to since my cycles are irregular. I'm really hoping it happens soon.
We do play dates with a few friends on at least one of my days off. And I try to take her wherever I can with me to get her out of the house since she is home all day. She just loves being around ppl.
Hope everyone had a nice weekend!

  • We are good this week. Still dealing with anti social behavior, though. We had the IL's up for dinner this weekend and DD wanted nothing to do with them. She cried every time they looked at her :( I felt really bad. So, in an effort to get her to be more social I've signed her up for every toddler activity I can find! We start swim lessons on Wednesday and Kindermusik in a few weeks. Our local mall just added in an indoor play area, so I'll probably be taking her there daily. That is, after this freeze breaks! It's 19 degrees now and is supposed to drop to 0 in a matter of hours! Way too cold to go anywhere!

We're currently TTC#2. We're on cycle 3 and I'm hoping to join the BFP wave before too much longer! I'm waiting to O, probably another two weeks to go.

  • How are you all and your littles? Any funny stories this week? Challenges? Doing well. Today is the first day back to "real life" for us (I say us, but really DH and DS). Everyone is back to work today and DS is back at daycare. I'm glad, actually, b/c I think when DS stays home too long he gets a little crazy and it starts to drive me up the wall. We are currently dealing with back-talking and I'm at a loss on how to handle it. Yay.

Feel like I'm experiencing a wave of BFPs lately among mama friends and acquaintances. Anybody else thinking of growing their family? How's TTC going, for those of you that are already? Well, I'm almost 20 weeks pregnant, so I guess I'm thinking of growing my family. :) haha. I have lots of pregnant friends IRL too (mostly 2nd babies as well), so it's definitely going around at the moment.

How do you plan to get through cooped up January with an active toddler?! I have no idea...I mean, I work full time and DS goes to daycare, so luckily he gets a lot of his energy out by being there, but weekends are really hard b/c I can tell he hates being inside the whole time. There is an indoor play place that we go to sometimes that we tend to use more in the winter, so we may do that some weekends. January is the worst and longest month ever.

  • Sending lots of good vibes to those of you TTCing! I know how crazy stressful that can be.

We've finally got a walker. DD took a few steps before Christmas, and flirted with walking at Christmas parties (mostly because she's a crowd pleaser, I think) but now she's taking steps between different pieces of furniture and we can put her down and she'll take a few steps before sitting down, when she would normally have gone right down and crawled around. I knew she'd walk eventually, but of course I still worried there might be something wrong.

As for funny, DD is a ninja when it comes to sneaking sweets. DH had a bag of Christmas goodies next to his desk - his first mistake - and she was happily playing with some bells beside him. I was in the other room folding laundry, and when it got quiet I peeked in to see what she was doing, which was eating a salted caramel chocolate chip cookie bar while DH was totally oblivious playing a video game (with headphones in!) Mostly I was amused (she didn't manage to eat much), but scolded DH pretty seriously, as his shock was almost as hilarious as her little face with caramel on her chin. Sigh. Girl has a sweet tooth like her mama.

I am seriously considering a museum membership to give DD and I somewhere to go on the days I'm home with her. We have a killer children's museum. I miss going to the park! Today it's something like -15 with the wind chill, and it is NEVER this cold. Our winters are typically in the 30s and 40s, and rainy.

  • Thanks for running the check in.

D is doing alright. He has a cold right now, which sucks. It isnt à horrible one, but the coughs break my heart.

He should be having his first speech therapy appt on Thurs, which i am excited about. It has been a long time coming. Like à year. On the 16th he has a developmental eval that may be when i get à dx for him. Most likely they will say autism. I am honestly nervous both about hearing that dx and about NOT hearing it. (Hearing it opens lots of doors for therapy, but will be hard on my heart).

I will be 23 weeks pregnant tomorrow, so i guess i beat the rush on the current bfp wave. ;)

My little guy is doing great he has been talking a lot more..ie repeating more stuff and it was hilarious when he repeated something daddy said. I hope he doesn't say that at daycare. It wasn't good. I really happy he's been asking for things like milk or cookie by name and we've had less meltdown moments. He's still not talking like most of the kids in his class though. :(

Not at this time with 2 in daycare. Plus I turned 35 two weeks after my youngest was born, so time is not on my side. :(

How do you plan to get through cooped up January with an active toddler?!

We got him a little table and tons of art supplies from Melissa & Doug. He loves to color. I also have been letting him watch his favs: Doodlebops & Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. He loves to sing. It's funny.

  • DD is so much fun these days. She likes to play peek-a-boo. She will put a hand over one eye and say "peek...peek!" She also has been picking up words and signing them like doggie, baby, and banana.  She loves books and will sit with me to read. She loses it when I have to take the books from her because she's chewing on them.  Baby proofing has been the challenge. She's mostly confined to our living room and once in a while I take the gate down to the kitchen and once she sees it gone, she's in the kitchen so fast. She gets herself in a lot of trouble in there like pulling the chairs down on her or trying to get into the one cupboard that I'm too lazy to baby proof. My other challenge is keeping her safe from my rambunctious 4 year old.  That's a whole 'nother story.

We are done with TTCing. I would love another little one but at my advanced age, finances, small house, not willing to go thru the ups and downs of being AL and the pregnancy pains...we are just done and enjoying the two we have. I enjoy seeing the AL ladies bring another LO home and am rooting for you all!

  • We're doing pretty well. DD has been having some sleep setbacks following a cold and some teething that are not so fun, but the last few nights have been much better, so fx we are out of it. I also think we are going to officially declare dad as her first word. For the last few days, she has gotten more and more consistent at looking at DH or when he comes into the room saying "da!" It's really sweet.

As for TTC, we are currently NTNP since I haven't had a PP AF yet due to BF. I had some very brief spotting last week that I was ecstatic might be a period, and no such luck. So I just keep randomly POAS. I think I am leaning toward just temping now just to see if anything is going on, or any patterns. I hate having even less control than normal when TTC!

I find this so frustrating, too! We're not really trying right now, but I desperately want to temp just to know what's going on in there. My cycles are starting to get a little regular, but still. DD's night wake ups aren't consistent so I can't really get into a good pattern to temp (and I also don't want to wake up at 6 a.m., even for a minute, if I'm still being woken up in the middle of the night).
