PSA: Car Seats and Winter Coats

Given the current climate across 90% of the U.S. as of late- I thought that this was apropros to share. While I'm pretty sure that most of you ladies are already aware of the risks involved with bundling the LO's up too much- overheating, etc... I thought it better to be safe, than sorry. Stay safe everyone!

    I saw a post on Facebook about this, showing how much space a heavy jacket or now suit adds to the belts, but I didn't realise it was such a danger!

    I used to live in a really cold area.  My solution was to start the truck 5 to 10 minutes before I left to warm up the inside.  If I was out, I would sit in the parking lot with Marnie in my lap while the truck warmed up, then take off her outerwear to put her in.  I always made sure we had warm blankets as well, since I didn't always have a snowsuit with me.  We would rush from vehicle to store bundled in blankets. :)

    Good thinking! During the holidays spent visiting relatives in Upstate, NY- we came up with a formula pretty quick. Warm up the car, put LO in a thin, but warm fleece jacket, hat, pile on a couple of blankets, then a plastic shield over the plastic bucket and book it to the car. Once in the car, off with the blankets and plastic shield. Lather, rinse, repeat....

    Yeah I sent this to a friend on facebook after she posted a pic of her son in a puffy snowsuit and loose straps in his infant seat...she posted on her status " I've had 3 kids and yet people think I don't know what im doing! Thanks for your time but no thanks for your criticism!!"   I suppose it could look critical...but its not like I posted the article on the photo and said "read this you are doing it wrong.".

    Thank you so much for posting this! I feel like a giant a-hole...I did not know about this; my daughter has been wearing her snowsuit in the car seat for the past week. I just told my husband about this and will make sure my mom knows too for when she babysits. Thank you again for posting this!
