Inducing

Has anyone asked their doctors about being induced? If so what week did you ask for and what did your doctor say?

Yea, this will not go over well OP.  As PP said -- induction should be out of medical necessity, not because of convenience...

Good idea to quote this before it poofs.

  • Why are you wanting to be induced? Is there is a medical reason or "just because"?

  • Is there a reason for you to be induced? If so, I'm sure your doctors will let you know the date.
  • We were discussing it at work and one lady said she asked to be induced and asked if I was going to. She said that her doctor let her pick any week after 37 weeks. I don't want to be induced. I want to know what it's like to go into labor.
  • I asked my doctor to not be induced ... I figure baby will come when he/she is ready. Ummm and ... welcome to F14?
Same here.  My doctor doesn't want me to go past my due date, so I bring up how I don't want to be induced almost every appointment. He is insisting on this due to PCOS, not convenience.

Well, her doctor and she are both idiots. Tell her to check out the March of Dimes site to find out why 39 weeks matters.

Most hospitals now have bans on csections or inductions prior to 39 weeks unless there is a major medical problem.

The lady at your work is an idiot.

If you want to know what it's like to go into labor then do that. I can see you're new here but FYI this kind of post will get you immediately flamed.

There's a few problems with PCOS, insulin resistance being a biggie for birth. Even if you aren't GD, you can get blood sugar spikes that affect the baby.

He said it was due to possible placenta issues since it generally starts breaking down the later you are past your due date. I took progesterone 1st tri to help build my placenta due to low levels.

Seriously?!?! It was a discussion we had at work and I thought asking on here I would find out that most doctors don't have you "pick your due date." Didn't know I would get some smart remarks. I thought this was a site to talk about pregnancy not have comments like this. Guess I was wrong!! This comment could have been left unsaid.

Hmmm. Is that a PCOS symptom with pregnancy? I didn't know that. I mean, I've heard of placental issues in later pregnancy but not specifically because of PCOS or progesterone supplementation. Interesting.

This is not what you said in your original post.

You are wondering if an article from the examiner is credible?

  • I love when people post here for the first time ever and are all "I thought this was a place for support and love!!! waahhh"

umm try lurking or JOINING IN a conversation. if you did either of those, you'd realize this is an extremely supportive community but when you ask dumbass, vague questions and then get angry when people don't respond the way you want to, don't cry about it. no one knows you and quite frankly, I don't even see the relevance or importance of this post.

@bzeetyd  I have PCOS and heard that, too! I researched it and found that women with PCOS have a higher chance of going into PTL and placental abruption. I've never heard of inducing early without proof of the abruption, though. interesting!

Well, it said the information was from a journal of Human Reproduction, but I didn't dig any deeper.

Well, I don't know her medical history, but her OB sucks if he/she is allowing this just because.  Unless medically necessary, it's pretty irresponsible IMO.
