Baby Einstein DVDs

LO got some for Christmas and I'm yet to put them on.. I'm curious for those who have them, have you started playing them for LO (some say 6+ months)

If you have started playing them do you use it as background noise?

Do you use it as part of a routine (ie: before bed)

Do you use it to keep LO occupied while you clean or whatever else?

Do you watch it with LO?

Sorry I can't do a poll on mobile I'm just curious!!

Re: Baby Einstein DVDs

  • DD laughs and giggles at, I assume, the music and movement on any kid show including Baby Einstein. It's helpful because it gives me 15-30 minutes to get a little bit done. We don't use it all the time, but it's a great help while I'm alone and making dinner or throwing in a load of laundry!

  • I think the point if tummy time is more than just then physically being in a prone position. I thought it was about arm strength, exploring, head control, rolling, etc.

  • I have one that is for 3+ months - an ocean one.  I have put it on a couple of times and she watches maybe 5 minutes.  The almost 3 year old watches them more than she does.  :)
  • I have baby Mozart and baby Beethoven and played them for LO a few times and he loved them. I haven't put them on for a few weeks though so not sure how he will like them now. They are very stimulating so I agree with pp to not have LO view them in the evening.

    Hes our angel... :)

  • I'm hoping it will help her with spending some time not in my arms so I will give it a try tomorrow :)

I actually have the lullaby one too which I believe is meant for bed time and soothing them, but my LO gets stimulated pretty easy so who knows of it would help.
  • We are using the preschool prep videos. They are fantastic! My friend recommended them.

  • We have played short videos for Alexis, maybe one songs worth each time.

She does like the music and pictures. I don't go beyond a few minutes....I don't think she would pay attention any longer.

  • I try to avoid exposing DD to TV before the age of 2, but I also know that's a tad unrealistic. I have read that Baby Einstein has been linked to overstimulation and is correlated with ADD, but who knows if that's all bologna.
  • I have about 7 baby Einstein DVDs that were given to me. I've only put one on for him, the Bach DVD. He seemed to like it for about 5 minutes and then he started playing with his hands. I will probably put them on for him but not very often.
