  • New to the board and happy to be here!

Due date? How many weeks are you? What size is baby?

Not exactly sure...Haven't had my first appointment yet. I think 5 weeks. I think I'm in poppy seed range. Too soon to feel at all comfortable!

     2) Age at delivery? (optional)

     I will be 41.

     3) Any other children? Furbabies?

    Yes...I have a 14 month old son.

     4) How are you feeling? New symptoms this week?

Not feeling much of anything yet. A little crampy. A little breast tenderness at times. Definitely peeing more!

     5) Any upcoming appointments, milestones, rants or raves?

First OB appointment tomorrow. Mostly talking I think. Too soon to see anything. But, I am a high risk pregnancy so he wants to see me right away.

QOTW: What's is your go-to recipe for a potluck?

I usually do a pasta salad with pepperoni, cheese, and olives.

    1) Due date? How many weeks are you? What size is baby?
    I'm due 5-14-14. 22 weeks tomorrow.

One very spoiled 100 lb Chocolate lab!  He's 8 years old.

    4) How are you feeling? New symptoms this week?
Feeling great so far (I hope I don't jinx it!)  A little heartburn and sciatic nerve pain here and there. Sleeping is getting a little uncomfortable some nights, but not too bad.

    5) Any upcoming appointments, milestones, rants or raves?
Just had my level 2 ultrasound yesterday.  It was so amazing!  We got to see the brain, heart, spine, kidneys!  They measure all parts of the baby to see if he is measuring where he is supposed to be at this time.  He is doing great and we got some GREAT pictures!!  You get to find out gender if you want also.  Although, we had already found out he was a boy from the Materniti21 test.

QOTW: What's is your go-to recipe for a potluck?
For Appetizer: 7 layer taco dip, For Side Dish: cheesy potato casserole, For Main: Crockpot Spicy Italian Beef
  • Happy 2014 everyone and welcome to all the new additions to the board.  Our little board seems to be growing quite a bit, which I love.

    1) Due date? How many weeks are you? What size is baby?   21 weeks today.

    2) Age at delivery? (optional 41

    3) Any other children? Furbabies?
       2 spoiled mutts

    4) How are you feeling? New symptoms this week?   I continue to need a lot of sleep, but I've always liked my sleep.  I'm feeling a lot of movement yesterday and today, which is so fun.

    5) Any upcoming appointments, milestones, rants or raves?
I have another U/S next week to monitor growth.

QOTW: What's is your go-to recipe for a potluck?   For the holidays, my family always expects me to bring a dish we call Hot Corn.  It's kinda like rice krispie treats - I don't want them to ever discover how easy it is.  :)

2 cans whole kernel corn, drained
    8 oz light cream cheese
    2 cans chopped green chiles
    1/4 cup milk
    1/2 stick butter

Melt cream cheese & butter in casserole dish.  Add milk, corn, chiles.  Stir in salt & pepper to taste.  Bake for 20 minutes at 350.

  • Happy 2014 to all the ladies on the board!

    1) Due date? How many weeks are you? What size is baby?
Due April 3, 27 weeks, I think she is a rutabaga now

    2) Age at delivery? (optional)
    41

    3) Any other children? Furbabies?
    2 cats and one dog

    4) How are you feeling? New symptoms this week?
Feet have begun to swell so that is a lot of fun. I am trying to massage them and elevate them at night which helps. Other than that not too bad, just more tired than normal.

    5) Any upcoming appointments, milestones, rants or raves?
Routine appointment next week, then the appointments start getting closer together (every 2 weeks). I signed DH and I up for a "birth basics" class and a childcare class. I don't know if they will be necessary, but as a FTM I was getting nervous about not doing anything. Also taking a tour of the maternity ward of the hospital soon.

QOTW: What's is your go-to recipe for a potluck?
    Usually spinach-artichoke dip. Yum.

    3) Any other children? None of the two legged variety yet, only 2 pups.

    5) Any upcoming appointments, milestones, rants or raves?
I graduated from my RE's office after a second u/s on Dec. 27 (strong heartbeat and on-track growth!), and I have my first prenatal appointment with my OB next week. I think he'll do the Materniti21 test that day.

QOTW: What's is your go-to recipe for a potluck?
Hmm. A big green salad with a lot of fruit in in it.

  • @jbelle - I'm sorry about your fall!  I'm glad baby is ok.

@surpriseat39 - is Caldareta similar at all to Apritada?  My friend made that for me one time and it was so good.   Oh, and her lumpia was amazing.  Now I'm hungry.  :)

  • @QOTR
    It sounds similar recipe-wise.

Some people make Caldareta rather runny, but I prefer mine thick and spicy.
I serve it over rice and I haven't met a person yet that didn't like it. Only people that preferred it less spicy than I do.

I don't think I've ever had Apritada, but there was a lot of stuff I never caught the names of.

  • good luck tomorrow @iamkerryanne ! Did you really say 10 PM?

    1) Due date? How many weeks are you? What size is baby?
    - EDD May 7 - 23 weeks today.  Grapefruit?  Which I don't get (as with most of these fruit things) because fetuses/babies at this stage are not that shape at all.  oh well.

    2) Age at delivery?
    - 39

    3) Any other children? Furbabies?
    - Just 2 cats.

    4) How are you feeling? New symptoms this week?
    - emotionally - starting to feel like it's more real; finally told at work(school, though didn't tell the kids yet) right before we came back from vacation so now talking about it with people in some way pretty much every day ... kindof scary, kindof exciting.  Feeling movement more which is reassuring. DH hasn't gotten to feel movement yet - hope that will be soon.
    - physically - still daily afternoon heartburn; some days headaches though thankfully much less this past week than the previous week.  Really tired again this week, though, even though we got a 3-day weekend thanks to ice ... thought there'd be a few more weeks of not being so tired.  Maybe it's partly from being stuck indoors too much and will get better next week if weather is better?  Also feel like I have to really work to get enough breath sometimes especially when laying down and also thought it was too early for that problem!  I'm really not very big yet (mostly  just look like i've been overeating) but maybe stuff is more squished inside instead of popping out.  Dunno.

    5) Any upcoming appointments, milestones, rants or raves?
    - 4-week check-in/check-up on Friday.
Rants and raves?  just whines really.  I've been trying to get to absolutely zero coffee (it was really worrying DH even though I had cut back to a very small amount, and then also i figure I won't be able to have it when time comes for labor and really won't want a caffeine withdrawal migraine on top of everything else then) but can't quite get there.  Am down to about 1/4 cup of weak/normal coffee or many sips of his (black) tea as opposed to the 1/2 cup of very strong coffee I'd been having but without that little bit I'm still getting a headache most days so then have to give in and have that little hit of caffeine.  Also ... still think maternity clothes suck for winter.  Especially because I hate nylon and acrylic for sweaters.  Luckily most of my regular turtlenecks and 3 or maybe 4 big sweaters are still OK.  Just need to get a couple more (to not have to repeat sweaters in a school week) ... will be looking for a  good deal on long/big "regular" (non-maternity) ones.  Thank goodness for consignment stores for maternity pants!!

QOTW: What's is your go-to recipe for a potluck?
Wow.  Haven't been to a potluck in ages!  I guess most recent sortof potluck-ish events I've been lazy and done hummus (store-bought) and veggies. Before that it was peanut noodles for a little while.  Or there's this good and easy casserole my mom used to make - "cuernevaca casserole" - rice, cheese, cream style corn, olives, green chilies.  I'd probably do that if had to bring a main dish, at least if there was a way to re-warm it there.

Yes, 10PM, @springbeduk2. I think they like to get you in there at night, monitored, etc...by the time they give you pitocin and you start getting contractions it's morning and all if the doctors are there for the day. I guess there is a better chance you will get your doctor and not deliver the following night and get whomever is in call. Just a guess, I'm not sure...
