Audible.com ?

I started a new job and I have a long commute.  Amazon advertises their new site Audible.com for audiobooks, TV, and magazines. It sounds interesting and might  be a great way to fill the drive time. Does anyone use Audible.com? What do you think and is it worth it?

Re: Audible.com ?

  • I'm not an Audible subscriber, but can offer my experience on why I haven't joined despite being an avid audiobook fan.

I found that through using a couple of library systems in my state, I can keep my audiobook needs meet for free.   Library systems are continually offering more digital selections and many libraries offer pretty broad membership.  (I seem to remember that lots of people across US use the Philadelphia library system for digiatal content.)

  • I agree with Pandril to check your local library. Mine has a a ton of electronic resources you can borrow. I rarely even go into the building because you can borrow ebooks and audiobooks through their website.

  • @Pandril19 and @britbratbj I never thought of checking the library. I am going to do that this weekend and see what they have to offer!
  • We have it, it's $14.95 a month but that's what my husband chose so there may be a cheaper option. It allows us to download the books and burn them to CD as well, which is nice for the long drives around here.

  • @Jfresh That price is not bad. I love to read especially paper books so I get where your H is coming from.
