My in-laws got this cute knitted outfit for E for Christmas. but it has me concerned.

It has these big toggle buttons (hard to tell in the pic but they're maybe an inch long) that are only attached by a couple strands of thread. Looks like a huge choking hazard to me and I'm not even sure why something like this is marketed for small babies.

WWYD? I didn't think about it until I was hanging it up after washing it, so returning is a no-go. The cute hat also doesn't fit E's head (guess my kid has a huge head because hats that come with outfits never fit!).

I would because someone is always watching him. I would think tummy time could be uncomfortable with it on. You could always take a needle and thread to it to make it more secure.

Hats that come with outfits are always too small, I'm going to go ahead and assume that we have genius kids whose heads are full of smarts and are therefore huge.

But honestly I just wouldn't let your kid wear it alone, like in their crib. It could be a "nice" outfit or one that he doesn't wear that often. DD has quite a few outfits like that, they are cute but impractical so they are only really used for pictures or going to visit a friend quick, etc. And after that it's back to a sleeper!

I don't see any issue, because at this age, my eyes are always on her. Then again, she doesn't wear sweaters at home anyway.. just when out on walks or going for a visit somewhere,

Yeah, it's definitely not a practical outfit. The in-laws bought a bunch of fancy outfits for E. They apparently searched high and low for "nice" outfits for boys and were upset by the lack of them. I guess they aren't around enough (they live out of town) to know he pretty much lives in fleece sleepers because they're comfy, warm and don't absorb his daily mass amount of spit-up.

I'll probably put it on him once when we're going somewhere, take a few pictures and that will be it because he'll have outgrown it!

Just so your in laws know I bought a ton of "nice" outfits for DS from Carter's at 40-70% off. The outfit is cute, but I hope they didn't spend too much money on them.

DS spends most of his time in pjs too. Fleece during the colder days and in a onesie and swaddle at night. We aren't very fancy

I don't leave DD in sleepers during the day (she gets put in a onesie and pants in the morning), but I can feel your pain on useless outfits. People love to buy her dresses (and hats)... which I would never make her hang out in all day.

@happybride 276 I also hope they didn't spend a lot. I think they got that outfit at JCPenney, so it shouldn't have been too bad. I guess they think he's going to prep school or something because they bought all collared shirts and cardigans!

@VitaLuna I can understand why - there are so many cute little dresses for baby girls. I'm always kind of longing for them when I'm shopping for DS. But yeah, not a ton of occasions, especially in the winter, to put a baby girl in a frilly dress.

OR they're trying to subtly hint to you that they don't like what he wears and they think it's more appropriate for him to wear something else.

Oh, that's just MY in-laws? Okay, nevermind.

I alllways but DD in an outfit. She goes either with my mom or grandparents everyday. I think it's annoying when ppl don't get dressed for the day. I know she's only a baby but still. Lol.
She's always comfy though

@HBirdie - Haha, yeah I don't think mine are this sneaky. I'm usually a person who likes to dress up and look nice so I think they just assume I'm the same way with DS. Plus I tend to send them pictures of him when he's all dressed up or in cute outfits so they must think I do that a lot.

@PumpkinMommaaa - I agree, I hate when I see people out in PJs and stuff. I used to be way more judge-y of that until I had E and still can't fit into my normal jeans. I refuse to buy the size I need so I've been wearing nothing but leggings or dresses since he was born. I'm the worst.

I used to put E in an outfit everyday but it's been so cold that I'd rather see him warm and comfy. He also has pants issues because he's long and skinny. The ones that fit in the waist are too short and the ones that are long enough are big in the waist and they end up under his armpits and his legs are exposed anyway, lol. Plus I think those waistbands make him spit up more sometimes and he already has enough reflux as it is.

I'd let him wear it when we went out or something, but it's not something I'd have him lounging around the house in since I tend to keep him in comfy stuff.
