The witching hour

It'll make you try just about anything lol. Archer is currently tightly straight jacketed in his swaddle me, sitting in his car seat, with Mr.MM's iPhone playing the most horrendous white noise...but he's asleep after an hour and a half of fussing, much better than every other night this past week when he's freaked out from 10 until at least 1 (last night it took until 3 to get him down). What ridiculous combinations are you all trying? ;)

  • I haven't had much of the witching hour with DD but with DS I went for a lot of evening drives... Had a small witching hour tonight with DD but it was more a case of Murphy's law - DH is out of town for work and I was trying to get DS to bed and it was time to read books and say prayers and the fussy started... So I just put her to the boob and fumbled reading books one handed... Now both are asleep, the house is quiet and I'm going to have a glass of wine!

  • The boob works, but my nips are raw if I let him get away with that for too long.

  • Rocking chair, boob, play yard, wake up, bouncing on the side on the bed, more boob, swaddle and more bouncing.

  • Bounce her until my arms feel like they're going to fall off, sway side to side, pat her butt, feed, burp, change diaper, lavender lotion, fleece PJs, pacifier, snuggle with her, and if all else fails and she's driving me insane I'll wake up DH to save me. Just now getting her to sleep at almost 1am but she'll be up to eat right when I'm drifting off.
    Welcome Lily Anna!

  • Last night wasn 't fun. This kid is driving me to drink. If she didn't do the 5-6 hr stint once she actually falls asleep, the screaming thing would've driven me batty by now.
And we have another growth spurt coming up! Yay!

  • Bottle, burp, diaper, lavender lotion, bounce, sing Beatles songs, continue bouncing, put down in swing, rock, pick up from swing, shove pacifier in face, catch flying pacifier, cry, repeat.

I've been singing I Will by The Beatles daily! It's definitely become our song. What songs are you singing?

We got some sleep, but not a lot. It's 18 degrees here, I think I will stay in bed all day watching netflix and reading.

    Fantastic plan :)

  • Whatever it takes!!

I usually try gas drops, followed by the tightest swaddling, followed by over the shoulder butt-patting for what feels like hours, followed by putting her in the stroller and pushing her around the house, followed by lots of crying and melting down from me. It usually ends in both of us exhausted and finally asleep.

@buckeye608 - I'll sing hey Jude (that's his name), let it be, blackbird, I will mostly. But really whatever comes over my shuffle. Though the intro to ob la di scares the crap out of him hahaha

  • @Sunshine5788 if she isn't going nuts, why don't you just let her hang out while you sleep?
This is what I do. M will go in his RnP a lot of time and either fall asleep or just hang out. If he hangs out, we sleep.
  • @Sunshine5788 if she isn't going nuts, why don't you just let her hang out while you sleep?
There are several times I do just that however when she's making noises it always wakes me. Even if she's just playing I feel the need to sit up and check on her.
    Don't feel that need...let her be. :)
  • Feed, burp, diaper, swaddle like a straight jacket, rock, pavo, sound app on phone, rock in bassinet, pick up and cuddle, give in and let him sleep in my chest (by chest I mean right under my chin)
