Formula Question - Enfamil

So my supply isn't very good so we supplement with formula probably at least half of what he eats.

We had been using Gerber samples that we had been given...we've gone through almost three cans now (LO is almost four weeks old). We are almost out of the Gerber but we have a ton of Enfamil samples, plus our pedi recommended Enfamil if we had to supplement. We started giving LO some of the Enfamil...but he spit it up.

I have heard you can mix formula (half Gerber and half Enfamil) to get the baby accustomed to the change, but he was still spitting up. Today we only put a quarter of a scoop of the Enfamil in his bottle and he STILL spit up. He doesn't typically spit up with Gerber or breastmilk.

Soo....should I just not have LO eat the Enfamil? Or will his stomach get used to it after a day or so? I should also mention, he isn't spitting up a ton, just a little. Obviously though, using up the samples we have are not as important to me as making sure that LO's tummy is happy...but I thought I'd ask if anyone else had any experience with this, and what did you do?

Re: Formula Question - Enfamil

  • My little guy adjusted great to Enfamil gentle ease! He spits up here and there but nothing major.

We have been using the Enfamil Newborn...I do have a few of the gentle ease samples maybe I should try them...
  • My pedi says you do not have to mix, simply switch to the formula you want

  • I am having the same problem. I've gone through 6 cans already of Enfamil Gentelease and no progress and when he burps as well he vomits a little. I was hoping it was just an adjustment thing but it hasn't changed. With Gerber he didn't have that problem neither with Similac

I am going to talk to the pediatrician next app.
  • We started out on Enfamil Newborn and dd had a lot of gas and would spit up a lot with it. It was just very hard on her tummy so we switched to Gerber Gentle. We haven't had any more of the bad spit up and her gas is so much better! She is a lot happier on Gerber.
