My 2nd graders

I have to share. I finally told my students today that I am having a baby. They were so cute. They decided that they have names for me to chose from. Boy and girl names since at that time I did not tell them I am having a girl. So, I guess if my students have it their way, my little one will be named after a character from Harry Potter!!!! ( I did tell them I am having a girl after awhile.)

They are infatuated with Harry Potter right now. I know tomorrow they will be coming in with all different reasons why I should name her Lilly or Hermione.

Oh I love my students. LOL They were even given me middle names. hehehe

OMG too funny, yeah priorities are so different. One of my students asked me a few weeks ago. We were in line for lunch and she gave me a hug and then looked at me and said Mrs D are you pregnant? I asked her why she asked, she said my belly was bigger. I so had to lie to her. TOld her Mrs D was just getting a little chunky. She took it. Told her more to love.

Today I told her if she remembered what she asked me a few weeks ago, she sort of did. Then when she figured it out she gave me a hug. Too cute.

Yeah elementary is way different than middle and high school. lol

@BrightEyes112 I don't know how you handle teaching high schoolers. I applaud you. I'm not too long out of high school if I dont count dropping out (I went back and took my GED two years later and they gave me my high school diploma instead) and I always told my teachers how awesome they were for dealing with the students cause most of them were horrible to the teachers.

They also suggested the names Kobe and Lebron for our little boy.

@Savvy122 HA, if you leave then sub, always better with a sub right. lol Oh no you are getting the sports names. LOL

Your 2nd graders sound adorable! I am student teaching in a 3rd grade classroom, but they do not know yet. My cooperating teacher and I decided to wait until one of them asks. I'm starting feel like that I have bump, but they must just think it is holiday weight haha. I'm excited for my students to be trying to name my baby.

My students actually had no clue. I am pretty big for 16 weeks I look much further along and when I told them today, I said didnt you notice my belly was getting bigger? They said no. LOL

I only had one student ( probably the smartest one in class) mind you this is private school, she asked me a few weeks ago when she hugged me, I am so not surprised she figured it out early on. I told all the parents before we went on winter vacation and told them I would tell when we got back. They are so much fun, it is so cute to see how they are. I can't wait to hear more names tomorrow. LOL

Now funny thing is when I was student teaching I was 50 thinner and didnt have a belly but was wearing a shirt that was cut different. Well one of my students asked me back then if I was pregnant and an adult did too, I had to say nope just getting fat. lol The thinnest I was and people thought I was pregnant go figure. LOL

So cute! I'm looking forward to when u first graders figure it out. It should be interesting to hear the suggestion for names...I'm guessing I will hear some ninjago names from the boys.

I'm doing a long-term sub in 4th grade right now and had a similar reaction when I told my students. It definitely gives you a burst of love. I have one little boy that hugs me every night and says goodbye to me and then goodbye to they baby. Adorbs! I told them they could start suggesting names after winter break- I'm not going to find out the sex- so I have two buckets for them to put their suggestions in. I can't wait to see what some of them come up with!

So cute

My great grandfather was a school principal, so he had a contest to name the twins when my grandfather and his twin brother were named. So their given, official, legal names were Billy and Bobby.

I wouldn't suggest that for you, but it's one of my favorite family stories.

And funny story from my third graders when I as pregnant with DD: 3rd grade girl: Mrs. D, Kyle called you fat. Me: oh honey, I'm not fat, I'm pregnant! Girl: he said you don't know WHAT you is!
