Someone recommended that I get one that swings side to side AND front to back- if anyone is getting one that does that, PLEASE let me know which one it is!!! Thank you!
Based on what I've read we're going to check out the FP My Little Lamb Cradle n Swing. Not sure if that goes both side to side and front to back though.

I just looked into this after reading your post. It does both motions. I love the sitting position variety of this chair. I just added it to my consideration list. Thanks for mentioning it.
We had the Graco swing with DD but the motor broke and would make funny noises. Sooo we need a new one. If this baby is anything like DD it'll want to live in the swing. This time, however, we will be getting one that not only takes batteries but also plugs in the wall. That was my biggest mistake before. We went through a ton of batteries. Nothing like having to run to the store at 10pm cause the stupid swing died, AGAIN.
Have you seen the mamaroo? It looks awesome!!! I couldn't stop playing with it at babies r us!
Yes! This is the one item that I am insisting we purchase for this baby. My BFF has one and swears by it. I love how little room it takes up and the different settings. DS hated his swing (he hated being put down, really) so I'm hoping investing in the Mamaroo will give this mama a bit of a break.
We have the Fisher Price Snugabunny Swing for my daughter and she loved it. The part the baby lays in can turn so it can do both side to side and front to back swinging.
4moms that makes the mamaroo bouncer just came out with the "rockaroo" it is cheaper than the mamaroo and seems like a better idea to me, so we will be getting that one. Our swing from DD broke. It was the graco swing and bounce, we used the bouncer a lot but she didn't like the swing.
We have the FP My Little Snugabunny swing! We love it for the papasan style seat, and that it swings side-to-side in addition to front-to-back! I also loved that it plugs into the wall, so I didn't have to worry about changing batteries often (it also works on batteries too). DD#2 loved it, and I'm hoping baby boy does too!
We never bought one for DD. We borrowed my bro/sil's first and found that DD didn't really care for it. So I'm glad we didn't spend the money! You might try borrowing first if that is an option.
We never bought one for DD. Money and space were VERY tight at the time. But with having to chase a toddler this time - I think it is a MUST purchase. We are getting the Mamaroo. If you have a BuyBuyBuy coupon you can get 20% off....

THIS! We had a battery operated one and hated it. SOOOO many batteries! My friend wants to give me hers and I had to politely decline because it uses batteries. She kept asking me why why why and I told her, " SO MANY BATTERIES!".
We didn't buy one for Lucia and won't for this one either. I 'm a nanny and have spent way too many hours transitioning kids out of sleeping in them. No thanks.

I have also heard that having both motions is a good idea since different kids have different preferences.
