Made the change!!

Oh. My. God. I'm in HEAVEN!

So since I am exclusively pumping/chained to the pump I decided to set goals for myself. Short term goal is to continue pumping until baby is 6 weeks. Long term goal is to continue pumping until baby is 6 months! Well this whole time I've been pumping with the ameda purely yours pump, and not knowing any better I was fine with it. There is an offer going on at babies r us that if you trade in any pump you have, you get $85 dollars off of the medela pump and style. I figured since I'll be saving money on formula and everyone says great things about it, why not. I traded it in today and oh my lord! What a difference!! I'm getting twice as much milk and it's no longer painful! Thank you Jesus! I definitely recommend making the change to you ladies that have other pumps if you can afford it. It will save you so much time and effort!!

Re: Made the change!!

  • I have the ameda and it kills me

  • Thanks for the info, I might have to trade mine in. Anyone else with the ameda have issues with the silicone cap thing not inflating resulting I losing suction while pumping? Happens to me all the time and then I have to stop pumping, take the cap off to fix it and resume. Such a pita.
  • I rented the medela symphony at the hospital, because my ameda was not shipped to the house at the time of discharge from the hospital. (I was using it to prime my nips for bf.) I used the ameda once, OUCH! And i got crap results. I don't care about price, I will rent a symphony again with my next LO, twice the supply, & 1/2 the pain.

  • I think I'm getting the Ameda. Its what they have at the med supply place that takes the insurance. :(

  • That's how it was for me, my insurance paid for the ameda. It's doable but if you're exclusively pumping it's a pain

Yes!! And I hated cleaning all the parts, and having to deal with the suction and speed!
  • Thank you for posting this.  I have been trying to decide whether to purchase a Medela Pump in Style or rent a Medela Symphony.  I currently have a Ameda Purely Yours that my insurance company provided.  I think that this offer solidifies my decision, hope you don't mind-but I'm going to share this information on the breastfeeding board.

  • I have the medela pump in style as well and love it!

  • I love my pump in style. Everyone warned me pumping would be uncomfortable or painful, but it hasn't been for me.
  • This is good to know! My sister gave me her Medela, but I was debating about still getting the Ameda through insurance. I will prob just stick with the PIS now!

I know my insurance will only cover one pump throughout my life. If you plan on having anymore children, I'd say to hold off on getting the Ameda if the PIS works well for you. You might want to call and check with your insurance company if they have the same policy as mine just to make sure.
