  You don't know which diapers will work best, which wipes, what size she will be, etc.  Stocking up on diapers and supplies can be a big waste of money.
  
  Get one large box of newborns and one large box of 1s.  Get one large box of wipes.  Then put money in a savings account or buy gift cards to put away a little money at a time if you think that will be helpful for you.

  The other thing you should consider is if you have storage space to stock up. I would say the best to stock up on would be wipes... The diapers are tougher to gauge in my opinion. Who knows what brand you'll like or how long baby will wear what size for.

  Don't stock up too much...at my showers, I was given different packs of diapers, a "diaper cake" and a "diaper cradle" along with a bunch of wipes. I did buy my own box of newborn diapers, just to have. I'll be set for a little while. And I have a couple gift cards to target that I can always send my husband out to pick up more when we need it!

  I guess it doesn't hurt to "stock up" but I personally don't go too nuts too early, and you have a lot of time.

  I have been stocking up but only at target and using my red card. You get an extended period of time to return or exchange them if they dont work our or LO out grows them.

  I'm going on #3, and my cousin is due in June with her first, so here's the suggestion I gave her when she asked.
  
  We've always had luck with pampers, and the hospitals we've been at all use them too, especially the swaddlers when they're first born.
  
  Don't go too crazy though.
  
  For us, we always stuck with the pampers wipes. They were nice and soft, and the unscented worked for DH and I as scents can give each of us migranes. They're also the only ones that worked well with the wipes warmers that we have. You'll never have too many wipes, so you're safe to stock up. If you decide to try out a budget brand (and in the USA you guys have a lot more options than us in Canada), I would wait until the baby is born, maybe just have a small amount of a few different brands to try, and buy them on sale.
  
  As far as diaper boxes, I suggested that she pick up one box of Newborn swaddlers, you'll need those for the hospital. After that I suggested not to buy more than 2 large boxes in any size until you see how fast the little one will grow. Example, buy two big boxes of size 1, 2 big boxes of size 2, and stop there for now. Wait for kick ass sales, and use coupons
