Re: ** Monday Multiples Check-in **

  • How are you feeling this week? Updates?  As of today, the babies are weighing in at 2lb 2 oz and 2lb 4oz.  They are kicking and flipping and driving me nuts.  Baby boy likes to kick my ribs and baby girl likes to attack my bladder.  Fun times.

Vent Away:  I'm so achy. My whole back hurts and my pelvis feels like it is splitting open whenever I shift, turn or try to get up. Don't even start me on my lack of sleep because I can't get comfortable.

Can we talk clothing... Are you buying preemie outfits? What is the ratio of newborn to 0-3?  I am going to get a handful of preemie outfits. I'm not going to remove the tags until we have a better handle on their arrival.  I probably going to aim for a months supply of newborn and then go up to the next size.  It sucks that we are on the cusp of 2 seasons because I can't guage how to dress them.

Bed rest ladies.... How are you holding up? How are you keeping busy? Me and my modified BR self are going stir crazy.  I am attempting to learn how to knit, but my patience and attention span are about zero right now.

Lets revisit nurseries... Have you started? What is your theme?  We are going with a woodland theme.  Owls, birds, trees, etc.  I just ordered the wall decals and we have the firniture all picked out.  I probably won't purchase it until february though.

Are you planning on attending any childcare, breast feeding or labor classes? If so, when?  I would like to take an infant care class and will be calling the hospital to see availability.  I'm passing on the birth class and will probably wait to see the lactation consultant in the hospital after delivery

Our baby boy,Logan, was born still at 19w3d on 7/1/2011

  • How are you feeling this week? Updates?
25w on Wednesday. MFM and ob tomorrow.

    Vent Away:
Having upper middle and left abdomen pain. Texted dr and she said hopefully gastritis. Will have bloodwork and u/s tomorrow. Feels like a hot poker. Have had Cholestasis before but never pain but my gallbladder is out so it could be liver.

Can we talk clothing... Are you buying preemie outfits? What is the ratio of newborn to 0-3?
After having all preterm babies, 6-7.5lbs, I still use preemie for a few weeks then switch to NB. Mine usually aren't in 0-3 until 8-10 w old. So I'm getting maybe 6 preemie sleepers per baby, 10 NB sleepers/outfits and won't start getting 0-3 for awhile.

Bed rest ladies.... How are you holding up? How are you keeping busy?

After PTL from having stomach virus, I see this in my near future lol

Lets revisit nurseries... Have you started? What is your theme?
No nursery. Babies will stay w us for first two years then move in w older kiddos.

Are you planning on attending any childcare, breast feeding or labor classes? If so, when?
    Nope. BTDT with 6 kids.

GTKY: What is your favorite childhood memory?
    Playing outside until dark.
  • How are you feeling this week? Updates? Been upgraded from modified to full bedrest, doc wants to be proactive in preventing preterm labor and that 28 week mark is coming up fast, thats when I started having cervial issues with my last pregnancy, but on a happy note, just found out my family is throwing me a SPRINKLE :) Super excited and unexpected! They figure since its twins, might as well. They rock!

Vent Away: None right now except I have to clean myself up. I look horrible, havent showered or done my hair since Saturday and still in my PJs

Can we talk clothing... Are you buying preemie outfits?  What is the ratio of newborn to 0-3?  Since Im guessing the babies will be in NICU for the first 2-5 weeks Im not going to buy premie, but I have bought some 0-3, mostly functional stuff rather that outfits.

Bed rest ladies.... How are you holding up? How are you keeping busy? Well working from home def helps. Watched the first 3 seasons of Downton Abbey this weekend. Looking forward to watching episode 1 of season 4 today!

Lets revisit nurseries... Have you started?  What is your theme?  I gotta get the husband started on this soon! Right now the nursery is filled w. storage from doing our kitchen remodel. Gotta start clearing it out and getting it ready!

Are you planning on attending any childcare, breast feeding or labor classes?  If so, when? Nope, did that the first time around :)

GTKY: What is your favorite childhood memory? Easter egg hunts and my grandmas. She would hide 100 plastic easter eggs, some out have candy in them, some dollars and some a written number that matched up to a list of prizes. OMG we had so much fun!

  • How are you feeling this week? Updates?
I feel OK. I'm achy and my hips hurt like hell. I also managed to pick up a cold bug. I just want to stop coughing.

Vent Away: our showers are this month (had to have 2 cause my mom started drama withmy mil despite my request to have one family shower. Plus one from work). I just found out that almost none of my family is coming to the one this Saturday. I'm angry that my mom made us have a 2nd shower and kinda hurt that my family isn't coming.

Can we talk clothing... Are you buying preemie outfits?  What is the ratio of newborn to 0-3?
So far, I'm not buying any preemie clothes. If they come this early they can't wear clothes in the nicu anyways. If I need them, I can always get them before they come home.

Bed rest ladies.... How are you holding up? How are you keeping busy?

Lets revisit nurseries... Have you started?  What is your theme?
No theme, just doing soft neutrals with personal touches.

Are you planning on attending any childcare, breast feeding or labor classes?  If so, when?
I signed us up for a multiples class. I'm a nicu nurse so I don't really need the baby care part but dh hasn't had much exposure to babies. Id also like to prep him for the csection & all that.

GTKY: What is your favorite childhood memory?
My dad and I went to see all of the original star wars movies when they were rereleased into theaters. We saw them all in one day. He passed away when I was 18 so I hold a special place in my heart for memories of him & I together.

  • How are you feeling this week? Updates?
Tired. Back is starting to ache at the end of every day. I bought a support band that is helping. Other than that, I am grateful to be feeling pretty well and still able to work, eat, sleep and take care of things I have to.

    Vent Away:
Can we talk clothing... Are you buying preemie outfits?
No. I was given a huge lot of hand-me-downs that included some preemie clothes from a fellow MoM with girls. I'll see what I get from my shower, too, but I think I'll be all set.

Bed rest ladies.... Grateful I'm not one of them.. hugs to those who are!!

Lets revisit nurseries... Have you started?  What is your theme?
Ours is well underway. We are doing soft neutrals with gray and a simple lamb theme.
Hubby is almost done painting and the carpet, cribs and dresser should be here by end of week - just in time for our first shower!
Are you planning on attending any childcare, breast feeding or labor classes?  Yep! Our 4 week birthing / newborn care class starts tomorrow. We have a one nigh breast feeding class at the end of the month which includes an in-room consultation after delivery. I'm excited for both, but hubby is grumbling about having to attend!

  • How are you feeling this week? Updates? I'm really starting to get big an uncomfortable now.  I tried to go to the movies with DH and I was miserable.

    Vent Away: Same as above

Can we talk clothing... Are you buying preemie outfits?  What is the ratio of newborn to 0-3? I haven't yet, it just seems like I'm asking for small babies if I buy Preemie clothes but I know I should.  My mom also mentioned she has a friend who had a preemie and she might have some clothes to give me and I won't have to buy any.

Bed rest ladies.... How are you holding up? How are you keeping busy? Big hugs to all the bed rest mommas.

Lets revisit nurseries... Have you started?  What is your theme? I'm basically done.  It's green and orange.

Are you planning on attending any childcare, breast feeding or labor classes?  If so, when? Yes! I need to sign up ASAP.

GTKY: What is your favorite childhood memory? There are so many... one that comes to mind now is playing cowboys and Indians with my friends on the horse ranch with our ponies.

  • How are you feeling this week? Updates?

Feeling pretty good! Went back to work today, and then we got a snow day tomorrow--so one more day of R and R before the kids come back!

    Vent Away:

Hmm.... I just get tired and my back hurts a lot...

Can we talk clothing... Are you buying preemie outfits?  What is the ratio of newborn to 0-3?

I haven't bought any of those. I suppose I should consider it.

Bed rest ladies.... How are you holding up? How are you keeping busy?

Sending good thoughts to you ladies!

Lets revisit nurseries... Have you started?  What is your theme?

We are going to be in a strange living situation for a few months. We are going to move in with my parents to get full time help from them the first few months. We bought two cribs, but I haven't decided if I am going to decorate since it will be a short term situation. On the other hand, I want to decorate some just to feel homey. We will have more space than I need (or have lived in in quite a while!). If we do a theme, it will be either dinos or frogs!

Are you planning on attending any childcare, breast feeding or labor classes?  If so, when?

Let's see--we took a "baby essentials for multiples class." It was terrible!! Oh well. I went to a birth class that I really really enjoyed. I would like to do a breastfeeding class (and I am signed up for one for multiples, but I heard it was terrible too...oh well!)

GTKY: What is your favorite childhood memory?

Wow! What a question! I loved long summer days. I loved reading books in this tree in our backyard!

  • How are you feeling this week? Updates? Well I'm 26 weeks and on full bedrest as of last Thursday. They are watching me for pre eclampsia and my 24 hr urine catch did have protein in it. My doctor had me get steroid shots in case they get here early. Braxton Hicks started last night. Overall, I've been a mess.
Vent away: I'm just feeling really guilty right now. I just want to make sure my babies get here healthy and not too early. I'm worried about how much work I'm missing and of course about money.
Clothing: I have a lot of newborn sleepers and bodysuits. I'm going to hold off on preemie clothes until we have a better idea of what's going on. It's hard to resist all the cute outfits.
Bed rest ladies: It's so boring!!!!
Nurseries: I'm having a hard time deciding what I want to do with a boy/girl nursery. Luckily I have plenty of free time to look for ideas ;)
Any classes? Nope, I hope too much hasn't changed in the past 2 years.
GTKY: My favorite memories are probably our family trips to Disney World. I can't wait to take my babies there some day <3
  • How are you feeling this week? Updates? Feeling pretty good still. I have an appointment next week - the first appointment in 6 weeks! After that I'll start going every two weeks. But this has been a long wait!

Vent Away: The cribs I want from Ikea aren't in right now. I'm not sure when they're going to restock. I'm anxious and worried about having to choose new cribs. I think I'll wait a couple more weeks and see what happens.

Can we talk clothing... Are you buying preemie outfits?  What is the ratio of newborn to 0-3? I'm waiting until after the baby shower to see what clothes I'll be needing. I'm hoping that I won't need preemie clothes, but I'll make the decision about buying when I get closer to delivery date.

Bed rest ladies.... How are you holding up? How are you keeping busy? NA.

Lets revisit nurseries... Have you started?  What is your theme? Cleaned out the entire nursery so we can start putting stuff in there. We're doing yellow walls, gray bedding/accents, and white furniture. Got artwork from Etsy in those colors with Bob Dylan's "Forever Young" lyrics on it. Very excited about getting those prints framed. Once we get the furniture (hopefully within the next few weeks), we can start arranging things and putting up art work and shelves.

Are you planning on attending any childcare, breast feeding or labor classes?  If so, when? Doing the birthing classes in a couple of weeks. Will do the child care, breastfeeding, and infant CPR/safety on March 1. It's the first day that it works into our schedule.

GTKY: What is your favorite childhood memory? Nothing in particular. I just loved nightly dinners with my family and going on road trip/vacations.

  • Updates: Feeling good this week, 28 weeks tomorrow! At our appointment on friday the girls were weighing 2lbs 2 oz and 2 lbs 3 oz! Growing and cery active girls! Doc said cervix looks the best it's been and to keep it up!

Vents: I just wish I could get comfortable to get a full night's sleep. Baby A is really low and I think causing sciatic nerve down the backs of my legs and bottom- quite uncomfortable!

Can we talk clothing... Are you buying preemie outfits? What is the ratio of newborn to 0-3? We bought 2 preemie sleepers and 2 preemie outfits just in case. It depends on what brands I've received so far, some 0-3 are huge compared to newborn!

Bed rest ladies.... How are you holding up? How are you keeping busy? Thinking of you ladies!!

Lets revisit nurseries... Have you started? What is your theme? We've painted and I got a few things from my 1st shower on Saturday to put in there. DH is designing and building crib and changing table/dresser so I am waiting on him for those! Currently trying to find cute coral bedding that matches.

Are you planning on attending any childcare, breast feeding or labor classes? If so, when? We attended a multiples breast feeding class that had lots of great info/handouts. I would really like to take a birthing class but I think it's like $150.. So we aren't set on it yet.

GTKY: What is your favorite childhood memory? I would have to say summertime and vacations for sure! I really feel like I had such a wonderful childhood so it's hard to pick just one!

I'm sorry to hear this, T&P's coming your way! I know it's hard buy try not to stress too much, work and money will work it's way out. Keep us updated!
  • @nessabeers Thank you so much! It's so hard not to stress but I know I need to do what's best for my babies.
  • How are you feeling this week? Updates?

Feeling ok for the most part.  I went to the Dr last week and my cervix has shortened so they gave me two steroid shots and put me on progesterone suppositories.  No bedrest yet, but I see it coming in the near future.  My back has been pretty bad lately but I'm heading out to the chiropractor in a few minutes....never been so excited!  :)

    Vent Away:

I just want my back to feel better!!!  Cervix....grow....lol!

Can we talk clothing... Are you buying preemie outfits? What is the ratio of newborn to 0-3?

My co worker bought me a couple preemie outfits.  We figured we would wait until closer to delivery to buy those.  We have a bunch of hand me downs so we are set for clothes right now!

Bed rest ladies.... How are you holding up? How are you keeping busy?

Hugs to all on bedrest.....I'm sure I will be joining you soon!

Lets revisit nurseries... Have you started? What is your theme?

Well....I have no clue what the nursery looks like.  My DH wanted to surprise me so he took over the entire thing!!  I love it!  We picked out the basics together, but he's putting it all together all by himself....he's so excited.

Are you planning on attending any childcare, breast feeding or labor classes? If so, when?

We will see.  I would love to attend the infant massage class after the babies are here!

GTKY: What is your favorite childhood memory?

I loved Christmases when my dad's side of the family would get together.  It was a HUGE celebration and was awesome!!!

  • How are you feeling this week? Updates? 25 wks, 5days. Still feeling “blah” due to the lack of sleep. I think we are all pretty much there. I see MFM again tomorrow, so I’m interested to know what positions these LOs are in now. They’ve been really active over the last few weeks, so that definitely helps me to deal with all of the “problems” of being pregnant. I love feeling them and seeing my tummy move and pop when they kick/punch. @figgs0831 We are team purple! Yay!

Vent Away: I’m uncomfortable when I sit, stand, or lie down, so I’m pretty much just dealing with it for the next 14 weeks. The maternity belt seems to make the pelvic pain worse. I definitely waddle and am WAY bigger than my sister who is 33 weeks with her singleton. I’m tired of the looks that I get when people tell me that I must be due any day and I tell them “no, not till April.” I’m tired of working and wish that I could stay home a few days a week to just rest. Oh, and I can’t breathe and my insurance denied my Nexium refill for whatever reason. It’s the 3rd refill and they had no problems the first few times. I’ve been without since before Christmas and the heartburn is back with a vengeance!

Can we talk clothing... Are you buying preemie outfits? What is the ratio of newborn to 0-3? We haven’t made clothes purchases just yet. Friends have given us things that they’ve lightly used and we are having a shower in a couple of weeks, so we’ve decided to wait to see what we get. We may have to get a few preemie outfits, just in case. Although, I’m seeing MFM pretty regular, so maybe that’ll help to give me an idea of how things are progressing and what I should buy.

Bed rest ladies.... How are you holding up? How are you keeping busy? Not here yet.

Let’s revisit nurseries... Have you started? What is your theme? We are using owls and the big tree decals. Since we are boy/girl, we needed to find something that would coordinate but wouldn’t be too matchy matchy. We have decorations, bedding, cribs, etc, but we are still in the process of clearing out the “storage” part of the room before we begin assembling furniture and wall decals. My mom is coming this weekend to help us get organized, so hopefully we’ll have some major progress made soon.

Are you planning on attending any childcare, breast feeding or labor classes? If so, when? Since we are first timers, we are definitely taking classes. Our Marvelous Multiples class starts tonight and we’ve also taken general pregnancy and breastfeeding classes and we are scheduled for a baby care/post-delivery mama care class this weekend.

GTKY: What is your favorite childhood memory? I think family gatherings during the summers were always my favorite times. We’d stay outside with all of my cousins until all hours playing in the yard and the pasture at my grandpar

  • Not carrying twins, but I just wanted to say that I cannot wait to see all of the double cuteness that is about to come! Keep up the good work Mamas! :)
  • My last sentences were cut off and should read, "We’d stay outside with all of my cousins until all hours playing in the yard and the pasture at my grandparents’ house. It was awesome!"

    Is today Monday again?! ;-)

Hi Ladies...I know I've missed a few weeks. Hope all of you are doing well staying healthy!!

How are you feeling this week? Updates?

I'm feeling strained. My belly feels at capacity! All of my weight went to my belly and oh my am I feeling it. I cut my work days down to two days in the office and three days at home resting. I'm tired and want these babies to grow grow grow and for March to get here!!

Vent Away:  I'm just achy. I don't want anyone to touch me including my poor husband. I'm nesting like a crazy person and I've finally learned how much energy my body will give me before I crash!! Yay for listening to my body :-)

Can we talk clothing... Are you buying preemie outfits?
We have a few premie onesies and maybe an outfit or two but mostly 0-3 months. We are very blessed that one of my husbands co-workers gave us 4 bins of gently used clothing all labeled 0-3, 3-6, 6-9 and 9-12. I couldn't believe how organized everything was. I really appreciated it because I'm super organized like that :-)

Bed rest ladies.... I've put myself on "bed rest" which just means slowing down and allowing others to help me.....but Ts&Ps to all you ladies on REAL bed rest!! Hang in there!!

Lets revisit nurseries... Have you started?  What is your theme?

Monkeys :-) Tried to attach a picture but it didn't work out.

  • Hi ladies. It has been a really long time since I checked in but I have been following everyone's progress and thinking of you all as we progress through this journey! Thank you for sharing your experiences, it has given me a lot of information to research and questions to ask at my bi-weekly MFM appointments.

How are you feeling this week? Updates?

I am feeling pretty good. I was excited to hit the 24 week mark last week and just feeling bigger every day. I am still sleeping ok (thank you snoogle!) but in my role as a teacher it is getting increasingly difficult to keep up with my bladder. I feel an almost constant need to pee after I have consumed any liquid. I am trying to still drink a lot of water but not abandon my 8th graders to run to the restroom.

Vent Away: This is a petty, minor complaint but my legs are a mess! My right calf looks like I have been beat up. The spider veins have exploded in big blobs looking like huge bruises. The top of my legs are starting to develop varicose veins. I find this process to be quite painful. I have purchased compression stockings but they are so uncomfortable that I can't decide what is worse!

Can we talk clothing... Are you buying preemie outfits?  What is the ratio of newborn to 0-3? We haven't purchased any clothing yet...I guess I am waiting to see how things progress in the next five weeks and then we will start to make some purchases. I am going to try to do two different colors so that we can keep our id girls straight!

Bed rest ladies.... How are you holding up? How are you keeping busy?

I am thinking of each of you ladies and the struggles that you are facing. I have started making a list of things to accomplish if I find myself on bed rest. I need to spend some quality time with Shutterfly catching up on photos (4 years later a wedding album would be nice..lol!).

Lets revisit nurseries... Have you started?  What is your theme?

We have cleared out the room. The walls are a pale yellow. I am going to do a "shabby chic" style with multiple pink and light purple based floral patterns. I am trying to do it on a extreme budget with many items that have been passed down to us. We shall see how it turns out!

Are you planning on attending any childcare, breast feeding or labor classes?  If so, when? I want to attend our local "marvelous multiples" one day class but it is only offered once a month and so far hasn't fit into your schedule. We are starting to run out of months!

GTKY: What is your favorite childhood memory? On this freezing morning I have great memories of long summer days spent outside! I do have cozy memories of freezing winters in Upstate NY playing in the snow followed by drinking hot coco with my siblings.

    Hump Day!!

  • How are you feeling this week? Updates. Well the last few weeks have been a wild ride. I've been put in the hospital twice, gotten steroid shots, and now am back at home on bed rest until they decide I need to be back in the hospital. Baby B is still having trouble growing and his cord blood flow isn't working as it should.....I guess he got the bad placenta :( good news is that he is still growing, just very slowly and also has heart issues but at this point will not need immediate surgery so praying that continues to be the case! Vent away: It has just been a bit of an emotional roller coaster the last few weeks and I will be really happy when I'm at the 28 week mark(2 weeks from tomorrow) bc the doctors keep saying that is a big milestone so crossing my fingers baby B can hold on a few more weeks!! Can we talk clothing....... We actually haven't bought anything that's preemie but with everything that has happened I think we will probably need some since the NICU doctors have already prepared me for a NICU stay. Looks like I'll be doing some online shopping now :) Bed rest ladies how are you holding up? So far so good.....my bum is a little sore but sounds like the rest of you ladies are just as uncomfortable so can't complain too much. Plus I find sitting on the heating pad seems to help so that's good. @MDMom2512 thanks for the idea about catching up on photos....I too still have yet to make a wedding album 3.5 years later :) Let's revisit nurseries..... @KRoseToes we are doing the same colors, but we put the grey on the way and are accenting with yellow and navy here and there :) I had already set up my cribs and am just waiting on my chair and dresser to arrive. Friends have already volunteered to pick them up and deliver them for us when they come in so that will be nice......still need to find some stuff for the walls so etsy here I come! Are you planning on attending any classes?.... Was going to this month, but as it turns out now I'm just gonna have to go off videos...wish me luck :) GTKY...... Favorite childhood memory was our family reunion in the summer....I grew up with about 15 cousins and it was one of the only times we all got to play together.....so fun!!!
  • Hello ladies! I know we don't have a thread going for this week, but I been thinking of everyone.

@MaiTaiBeth 's sweet little ones are here! Sending them lots of T&P.

Just wondering how you are are doing? Everyone ok?

  • Doing great here so far, 29 weeks and excited for 30 week appointment on Monday. Hope you all are doing great as well!!

Thinking of all you ladies and @MaiTaiBeth and her LO's!
  • I'll be 29 weeks tomorrow. I'm starting to get really uncomfortable due to rib pain. Other than that everything is going well. I have my. 3d ultrasound this weekend. I can't wait!!!
  • Hope everyone is doing ok! I had a great doctor visit yesterday. My blood pressure has been great the past 2 visits. There wasn't any protein in my urine. And somehow I've lost 8 lbs in 2 weeks! My doctor was very happy with me and said since I'll meet my goal of 28 weeks on Sunday the next goal is 34 weeks. So bedrest is doing me a lot of good :)
  • Glad to hear from you ladies! I'm 27 weeks tomorrow and docs said last week that all looks really good so far. Nice long cervix and healthy babies. Hopefully, all stays that way. :-) I had a bout of sleeplessness again this week, but was able to sleep about 6 hours last night without a bathroom trip! I feel like a new person! Thinking about and praying for @maitaibeth and her two girls. Hope everyone else is well.
