Anyone still use bottles?

Has everyone here already gotten rid of bottles completely? I still give Charlie one if she wakes up at night, which is usually about 4 nights a week. If I try to give her a sippy, she throws it across the room and screams "no" over and over, but if I give her a bottle, she drinks it and is back to sleep in about 5 minutes. Is it really that important to get rid of right now? Any tips that could help? TIA!

Re: Anyone still use bottles?

  • We stopped at 13 months, but Caroline didn't seem to care. It's hard when they're attached to something, which is why we're still using a soothie! Unfortunately, I have no useful advice :(

  • We do. Morning and before bed. He doesn't drink during the day at all so we figure we will at least get his milk in him. We drop the morning bottle tomorrow though. The bedtime one is the one I dread...
  • Yes, before nap and before bed.
  • Jacqueline gets one bottle before bed. Otherwise she is sippys all day. She really doesn't love milk from a sippy, and she doesn't love it cold. I've been trying to slowly give it to her colder and colder, but she doesn't love it.

  • He was getting 5 bottles when he turned 1 and we have been taking a bottle away roughly every month. He doesn't seem super attached but it helps get milk into him. He currently is down to 1 bottle a day and he gets it before his nap. I talked to his pedi and he didn't seem concerned about it especially since I promised to be done by 18 months.

  • I'm embarrassed about it, but yes she gets one before bed. We got rid of all bottles at a year, but gave it back when we were traveling and she got sick, and we're wimps about doing it again but we really need to.

  • So I thought he wasn't attached to the morning bottle but this morning was a fail. He wouldn't take the sippy and kept reaching for his bottles. Ugg. How do you drop the bottles they are so attached to? Suggestions?
  • We still use a bottle for morning and bedtime. At this point, it may just be a habit on my part and DH's. It doesn't worry me though and at least Jeffrey drinks his bottle of milk each time!
  • She still gets them one in the AM and one at bedtime.   I try to give her just sippys but SO insist on the bottle.  It is very frustrating.

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one still giving bottles! I'm thinking since Charlie only gets them if she wakes up at night, eventually she'll stop waking up and we will no longer need them. Hopefully... It's just weird. She doesn't care at all about bottles during the day, but at night she "needs" them.

  • I give a bottle before nap time and before bedtime. He drinks water from sippys throughout the day no problem.
For nap time & bed time he will usually be passed out by the time he's done with the bottle and that works great for us! Although, this past week he's been pushing his nap times later and later & no longer falls asleep while drinking his milk so I may just give him a sippy before nap time now.
